Instead of having to be interviewed multiple times by different agencies and attorneys, children are able to tell their story once, and the information is then shared among appropriate parties. As the process moves along, the child may receive counseling and other services in this same, non-threatening, nourishing environment.

💙 Myth vs. Fact | Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙

Myth: If a child doesn’t show physical signs of abuse, they must be okay.
Fact: Many forms of abuse—especially sexual and emotional abuse—leave no visible signs.

Children may show behavioral or emotional changes instead, such as:
• Withdrawal or sudden mood changes
• Anxiety, fearfulness, or trouble sleeping
• Regression to younger behaviors
• Changes in school performance
• Age-inappropriate knowledge of sexual behavior

Because abuse isn’t always visible, it’s important for adults to stay attentive, listen closely, and create safe spaces for children to speak up.
Awareness helps us recognize the signs—and recognition can lead to protection.
