🧀 Something cheesy happened today ... our residents became master cheesemakers! We had a fantastic time at our monthly Chef Demo, where Chef James pulled out all the stops to teach us the art of making homemade mozzarella cheese. 👨‍🍳✨

It was such an engaging learning experience for everyone involved. Chef James walked us through the entire process, sharing his expert tips and answering all the curious questions from our residents along the way.

Of course, the best part of the afternoon was the grand finale—the taste testing! There is simply nothing like the flavor of fresh mozzarella made right before your eyes.

Our recent art class took a trip across the globe as we explored the elegance of Japanese art! Our talented residents picked up their oil pastels to create some truly stunning cherry blossom pieces. 🎨

While we painted, we took a deep dive into the history behind these iconic blooms. Did you know that in 1912, the Mayor of Tokyo gifted the United States 3,000 cherry trees? It was a beautiful gesture of friendship that we still enjoy today! 🇯🇵🤝🇺🇸

We had a wonderful discussion about how spring represents the promise of new life and fresh beginnings. Just like the soft scent of the blossoms, these vibrant colors brought a wave of optimism and energy to our art studio.

Devin, an Australian Shepherd who is such a good boy, came back for a visit with his owner and trainer, Ruth, an Independent Living resident in our community.

Ruth has trained many dogs throughout her career and two of her dogs were invited to the Westminster dog show!

Devin awed the crowd saying his prayers, getting a tissue when someone sneezed, weaving between his trainer’s legs, finding the scented dumbbell, and more.

Devin was a show dog and carries many titles, but the most important one is the Companion Dog Excellence title.

Our residents look forward to a return visit soon.

🦉 We enjoyed a Bird's-Eye View at Ashton Commons today! 🦅

Learning truly is a lifelong adventure, and today our residents and families took flight on a new one! We were thrilled to host Stormy Oaks Nature Conservancy - Wildbird Recovery for an incredible educational program this afternoon.

We had the privilege of meeting some magnificent feathered guests, including a Merlin Falcon and a Barn Owl. Hearing their unique stories of recovery was truly moving, and we learned so much about their fascinating behaviors, their diets, and how they thrive in the wild.

It was an absolutely amazing experience that brought out the curiosity in everyone! A huge thank you to the team at Stormy Oaks for sharing your passion and knowledge with us.

🐣🍫 Easter fun is in full swing at Ashton Commons!

Our residents have been having a wonderful time celebrating the season. Yesterday, we made a variety of chocolate Easter treats, and today brought even more creativity as residents colored dozens of Easter eggs — each one bright and unique! 🥚

With the warmer weather and a holiday that brings so much joy, it’s been a fun-filled time in our community. Smiles are everywhere, and we’re loving every minute of it!

What a lively and memorable evening at Ashton Commons! ☘️

A big thank you to the talented dancers from the Bell School of Irish Dance in Wexford, PA, for bringing such incredible energy to our community. Residents enjoyed performances in our formal dining room and lobby—and we were especially grateful for their visit to our memory care neighborhood, where they shared the joy of dance with even more of our residents.

We are so thankful for moments like these that bring music, movement, and connection into our home.

Happy Hour at Ashton Commons is always a good time—especially when it includes Pub Bingo!

Residents and families come together every Monday and Friday to enjoy an afternoon filled with laughter, friendly competition, and great conversation. With drinks in hand and bingo cards ready, it’s no surprise this has quickly become a resident favorite.

Moments like these are what community is all about—connection, joy, and making memories together.

Our new chef, James, drew quite the crowd for this month’s Chef Demo — and for good reason! He showed residents how to make homemade gnocchi, sharing tips and techniques along the way.

The result? A big hit with our residents and a wonderful afternoon filled with great food and conversation. We’re excited to see what Chef James has cooking next. 👨‍🍳

Our Memory Care residents recently enjoyed a special visit from some furry friends during Pet Therapy, and the smiles said it all.

Spending time with animals can be incredibly uplifting — helping to reduce stress, encourage interaction, and bring a sense of calm and comfort. These visits often spark conversation, gentle movement, and joyful engagement in a natural, meaningful way.

It was a heartwarming time for everyone involved! 🐶

🍀✨ When Irish eyes are smiling at Ashton Commons Senior Living!

Our community enjoyed a full day of St. Patrick’s Day fun and festivities. The celebration began with making Irish soda bread in the morning, followed by a Shamrock Shake Social in the afternoon, generously sponsored by Suncrest Hospice - Pittsburgh, PA. ☘️🥤

Residents then took an armchair trip to Ireland, exploring the sights and charm of the Emerald Isle, before enjoying dinner accompanied by entertainment from Gene Testa. Our chef also kept the spirit going with delicious Irish-themed meals for both lunch and dinner.

It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, great food, and festive cheer.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Ashton Commons! ☘️💚
