What is IVF, anyway? 🤔

In vitro fertilization (in vitro is Latin for “in glass”) involves mixing s***m and egg in a lab to make an embryo, which is then placed into the uterus to attempt a pregnancy. IVF is an effective way for people to have babies who can’t conceive. More than 12 million babies were born via IVF!

Swipe through to learn the basics of IVF so you’re prepared if a friend or relative is going through it or you’re beginning your own fertility journey. The more you know...

Not every journey starts in the right place. After navigating setbacks at their previous clinic, Kelsey and Celine arrived at CCRM Northern Virginia feeling uncertain and left feeling hopeful and supported.

"We firmly believe the kindness and compassion shown by the front desk staff, nurses, lab technicians, and doctors helped us achieve our goal in a faster and less stressful environment.” Kelsey and Celine are forever grateful to Drs. Annie Martini & Carter Owen for treating them as a couple who was eager to start a family, not just a number.

Now they’re the proud parents of a baby girl, Magnolia.

We’re honored to be part of stories like this one and always grateful when patients choose to share them. ❤️

🍟 Happy Fry Day from CCRM Fertility! 🍟

For those new to infertility, there is some lore—maybe with a grain of truth?— that eating fries after an embryo transfer increases your chances of success. Some say it’s because the high salt content can help the embryo implant, or maybe it’s because a high-sodium diet is said to potentially prevent ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

There’s no scientific evidence one way or the other, but still, we think eating fries after a transfer is a fun ritual, a great photo op, and a perfect excuse to hit up the drive-through.

PS: The nursing team at CCRM Chicago gives out $5 McDonald’s gift cards to each patient after a transfer. Clearly, CCRM is Team French Fry.

Did you/will you get fries after your transfer?

🥳 Happy first birthday to CCRM Fertility Austin! 🥳

We're celebrating our first anniversary and the pregnancy of CCRM Austin's first le***an couple with a stint on local news station, KXAN News, featuring CCRM Fertility of Austin founding partner and medical director, Dr. Sydney Chang.

In the clip, moms-to-be Elise and Emma provide a glimpse into their fertility journey with Dr. Chang. They share how they chose CCRM Austin as their fertility clinic because of our gender-inclusive care model, as well as our innovative technology TMRW Life Sciences, an on-site storage repository which safely tracks frozen eggs and embryos.

Elise and Emma are expecting their baby boy in October. Patients like these are the reason we do what we do at CCRM Fertility. Congrats all around!

Did you know July is Fibroid Awareness Month? And did you know fibroids could be a cause of infertility?

Fibroids, aka leiomyomas or myomas, are non-cancerous growths that form in the uterus. They vary in shape, size, and location, and some can cause severe pain and/or make it harder to get or stay pregnant. This month is all about educating about uterine fibroids and helping you understand and manage your symptoms.

And that’s where we come in. Click through to learn about the causes, symptoms, and treatment for fibroids, whether you’re TTC or not quite there yet. You got this. 💪

POV: You just wrapped the most epic month of Pride celebrations across the CCRM network.

It was great to see so many CCRM clinicians, support staff, allies, and patients past and present support the LGBTQIA+ community at so many Pride events across the country. Here’s just a sampling of what we were up to in June:

📍 Held an in-clinic Pride Open House, Northern Virginia
📍 Attended the Pride Parade , Washington, D.C.
📍 Took part at Pride Fest, Virginia Beach
📍 Hosted an information booth during Pride Fest, Denver
📍 Joined the Pride Happy Hour with the LGBT Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Dallas
📍 Manned an information booth at the Pride Picnic Austin

Click through to see pics from all our events (spot your doctor or anyone else you know in the photos?). And tag us to show us how you celebrated Pride too!

Trying 🤞 exploring 💻 or not totally sure 🤔, the LGBTQIA+ path to parenthood looks different for everyone.

No matter where you are on your family-building journey (or even if you’re not there yet), we’re here to support you every step of the way. ♥️

As we come to the end of Pride Month, we want to wish a Happy Pride to all our LGBTQIA+ patients, parents, and allies.

06/29/2025

🌈 Family-building is for everyone, and during Pride, we’re celebrating the many ways LGBTQIA+ parents make it happen.

Dr. Angela Liu from CCRM San Francisco breaks down what gestational surrogacy really looks like and how it’s helping LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples grow their families.

Whether you're just starting to explore your options or you're ready to take that next step, you deserve a care team that sees you, supports you, and celebrates your journey.

Love makes a family. We help it grow.

In part three of our series, Amanda Adeleye and Senator Duckworth clear up a common misconception about gestational surrogacy.

A gestational carrier has no genetic connection to the child they carry. Instead, they carry a pregnancy created through embryos formed from the egg and s***m of the intended parents or donors. For many LGBTQ+ families, gestational surrogacy is a meaningful path to parenthood.

06/28/2025

In part two of our three-part series, Dr. Amanda Adeleye and Senator Tammy Duckworth tackle one of the most deeply rooted misconceptions in parenting.

Truth: Biology doesn’t define love, care, or commitment. Parenthood is about showing up—not necessarily shared DNA.

Whether you become a parent through adoption, surrogacy, donor conception, or co-parenting—your role is real, valid, and powerful. 💛

Families come in all forms. And all of them deserve respect, recognition, and access to the support they need.

06/27/2025

We’re pulling back the curtain on outdated, harmful myths that too often exclude LGBTQ+ people from the conversation around family building. In this powerful three-part series, Truth Be Told: Debunking Myths of LGBTQ+ Parenthood, Dr. Amanda Adeleye and Senator Tammy Duckworth sit down for an honest, affirming Q&A tackling the misconceptions that still shape access to fertility care, parenting, and reproductive rights.

Stay tuned as we break down a new myth in each post, starting with Myth #1: “Fertility conversations are only for straight, cis couples.”

Because every family deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. 💛

06/26/2025

We believe everyone has the right to fulfill their dream of a family, and there's no greater joy for us than helping you turn your love for each other into love like no other.

From our CCRM family to yours, Happy Pride to all the LGBTQIA+ patients we've helped become parents, who are still hoping to become parents, and who’ve trusted us with your care for more than 35 years.
