Last weekend, South Shore VNA held its first-ever Handmade & Heartfelt Craft Fair, bringing together colleagues, families, and the community for a day of fun and fundraising.

The event featured local vendors, food trucks, raffles, face painting, and even on-site flu shots.

Thanks to the hard work of many VNA colleague volunteers and the generosity of attendees, the fair raised more than $6,000 to support our home care patients!

October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month, a time to recognize the vital role diagnostic medical sonographers play in providing safe, accurate, and compassionate care.

We’re proud to celebrate the skilled ultrasonographers across South Shore Health who support care in a wide range of settings, including:

• General and Interventional Radiology, Vascular Ultrasound, and Maternal Fetal Medicine Ultrasound at South Shore Hospital
• Breast Ultrasound at the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center at South Shore Health
• Ultrasound services at the South Shore Health Outpatient Care Center, South Shore Medical Center, and The Women's Center of South Shore Medical Center

Important information for South Shore Medical Center Quincy patients.

After last week’s burst water pipe, our team is working to assess any damage and determine a timeline for necessary repairs.

South Shore Medical Center Quincy will remain closed to all patients until further notice.

All patients with affected appointments have been notified by our team and will be accommodated at other area South Shore Medical Center practices (Norwell and Weymouth) to ensure they receive the care they need.

If you’re unsure of the status of your appointment, please contact us at 781-878-5200.

We will provide further updates as they become available, including the date we plan to reopen the Quincy practice.

We were delighted to have four nurses represent South Shore Health at the recent 2025 Magnet Pathway Conference in Atlanta, joining more than 13,000 nursing professionals from across the country.

Our delegation attended sessions celebrating excellence in nursing, exploring topics like nurse well-being, night shift advocacy, and creating healthy work environments.

As a Magnet-designated organization, we are proud to champion professional development, collaboration, and innovation in nursing practice.

We're excited to share that the 2025 South Shore Health Gala officially raised $1.2 million for emergency care at South Shore Health!

We're truly moved by the generosity of our community, including our 65 sponsors, nearly 500 attendees, and dozens of donors and volunteers.

The funds raised by the Gala will help preserve close-to-home emergency and trauma care for the South Shore, positively impacting countless lives.

October 20-26 is National Hospital & Health System Pharmacy Week!

We have so many wonderful pharmacy colleagues across South Shore Health, each of whom plays a key role in patient care.

Our Pharmacy Team performs a number of different tasks, including refilling and distributing medication, maintaining patient medication histories, and monitoring medication safety.

In addition, pharmacists at South Shore Hospital are members of the rounding team in the Critical Care Unit and are integral members of the Emergency Department Team.

Each month, our Pharmacy Team:
• Distributes more than 300,000 individual doses of medication
• Prepares 5,000 medications in IVs and oral syringes
• Verifies more than 160,000 orders from clinicians
• Refills more than 40,000 medications in Omnicell Med Stations

In addition, our pharmacists perform more than 7,800 Medication Clinical Interventions and our Pharmacy Med History Specialists review and update more than 2,100 patient medication lists on a monthly basis.

We’re fortunate to have such a precise, expert team – thank you for all that you do!

Happy Medical Assistants Recognition Week to all of our wonderful medical assistants!

MAs care for patients across South Shore Health, including at Health Express, the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center at South Shore Health, South Shore Medical Center, The Women’s Center of South Shore Medical Center, and The Grayken Center for Treatment at South Shore Health.

MAs play an active role in patient care, from taking medical histories or vital signs to assisting with examinations.

Our MAs also help our practices run smoothly by assisting with a variety of administrative tasks.

We’re grateful to have such a dedicated team. Thank you for all that you do!

This compassionate group provides important emotional and spiritual support to patients and families during challenging times.

In addition, our Spiritual Care Team plays an important role in supporting colleagues during times of need.

Meet Christopher Vetter, MD, MSc, FACS!

Dr. Vetter is a breast surgical oncologist at the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center at South Shore Health, where he treats patients with benign breast disease, breast cancer, or those at high risk of breast cancer.

We're thrilled to have Dr. Vetter join the expert, compassionate team at our Breast Care Center and to provide expanded access to breast surgical oncology services to our community.
