Dr. Deepa Prusty is a general adult Endocrinologist who has been affiliated with South Shore Hospital since 2010. She received her joint MD/PhD degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 2002 and went on to do her Internship, Residency and Endocrinology Fellowship at Boston Medical Center. She received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College where she majored in French Literature. Following college she worked at the Children’s Hospital in Boston under the mentorship of Dr. Donald Ingber and Dr. Judah Folkman where she learned the value of biomedical research and the meaning of “taking the research to the bedside”. Deepa continued her passion for basic research during her post-doctoral training in Dr. Stephen Farmer’s laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry at Boston University School of Medicine where she studied metabolic pathways responsible for the development of adipogenesis. She continued this passion as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconness Hospital in Dr. Evan Rosen’s laboratory in the Department of Endocrinology. Her extensive research experience has given her a unique perspective of complex metabolic processes. Dr. Prusty is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, and is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American Diabetes Association and American Thyroid Association.
