Ronald Kay Bess was born on May 04, 1950, to the late Isaac Bess, Sr. and Ida Mae Bess in Galveston, Texas. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age under the leadership of the late Pastor Stephens of St. Stephens Baptist Church, Wharton, Texas. He was ordained as a Deacon at Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Larry Lewis. He later joined the family of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained loyal and steadfast until his death.
He attended public school in Wharton, Texas, where he graduated from high school. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corp. for two years. In 1973 he gained employment at Phillips Petroleum Company, where he worked for thirty-five years. While employed at Phillips, he rose to the rank of Instrument Supervisor. Later, he attended Brazosport Jr. College for Electronics. While studying Electronics, he gained a passion to learn more in the field of Electricity. He later became a licensed Electrician.
He leaves to cherish many memories to his six children: Ronald K. Bess, Jr. of Rosenberg, TX, Marcus Graves of California, Ocentia Gordon of Maryland, Dwayne Bess of McKinney, TX, Rhondalyn Bess of Humble, TX, and Carla Bess-DeFlora of Humble, TX. One brother: Jackie Bess (Doris) of Burleson TX. Nine grandchildren: Caleb, Cameron, Kobie, Briah, Jasmine, MacKenzie, Kayla, Matthew and Noah. Three great grandchildren: Kaiden, Aaleyah, and Malyah, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his grand-dog, Simone, whose loving spirit and companionship meant the world to him.
