The course prepares students as emergency medical care providers in a pre-hospital setting. Persons certified as EMT-Paramedics provide a higher level of care as specified by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the National Registry of EMTs. The course of study earns the student up to 45 semester credit hours that may be matriculated into the EMS Associate of Applied Science degree. The WCJC EMS program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Tonight, we proudly celebrated our Fall 2025 EMS graduates alongside their families, friends, and coworkers. More than 50 students earned their EMT or AEMT certifications—an incredible milestone built on dedication, long nights, and hard work.

We could not be more proud of each of them. It has been an honor to be part of their EMS journey, and we cannot wait to see the incredible impact they will make in their communities. The future is bright for this outstanding group of graduates! 🚑✨

Shawn Wimmer was a graduate in Paramedic Class 37, of enjoyable and admirable character. Typing this, I feel at a loss for words. Thankful for him and the impact he made.

Fort Bend County EMS is saddened to announce the death of Paramedic Shawn Wimmer in an off-duty traffic incident. We are in contact with Shawn’s family and our hearts grieve for them. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days & weeks. Funeral arrangements are pending.
