Amblyopia, also know as “lazy eye,” happens when one or both eyes don’t develop 20/20 vision. The brain starts to rely more on the stronger eye, which can lead to permanent vision loss if untreated.
It’s most common in young children. 🧒
Causes can include eye misalignment, unequal or high glasses prescriptions, or a blockage like a cataract.
Amblyopia is typically treated with part time occlusion of the good eye, such as patching. The earlier the treatment is started the better!
