🐍🧧Y I N W O O D S N A K E 🧧🐍

Welcoming the Lunar New Year:

The yin wood snake is not about forceful change, but rather subtle, patient and strategic transformation.

Yin wood adapts to find paths much like a creeping vine that weaves its way to the top, while the snake’s instinctive wisdom senses delicate vibrations, knowing exactly when to strike.

Weaving a discerning eye and a quiet strength together, the symbolic theme of the year is to embrace the mystery of our shedding skins, innate intelligence and discovering transformation that is not loud or obvious - but takes place in the shadows. 🐍✨

Wisdom to live by from ancient texts, modern sages and my personal fictional childhood heroine as it applies to our D A O: The way one comes to see & know oneself.

🌀In Chinese medicine, “Dao” (道) translates to “the Way” or “the Path”, wholly unique to every individual and the experiences that guide us toward self-actualization.

A core principle of Chinese medicine reminds us that our thoughts, emotions and stories directly impact our health: embracing impermanence and life’s natural cycles brings us closer to clarity, transformation, healing, and balance with our external environment and the universe at large (i.e. grand lessons in self-confidence and being true to yourself.)

✨ When we follow our Dao: our body, mind, and spirit are resilient through times of challenge and change.

✋ Stress, poor diet, lack of rest, or emotional imbalance disrupt our ability to stay the course - leading to stagnation, depletion, and illness.

🤍 Only YOU can walk your Dao. Using tools like acupuncture and herbal medicine can help us realign when life feels out of sync.

Gifting the intersection of the philosophical principles and biomedical influences of this medicine is what I love most in treatment, as it holds the key to creating long-term, meaningful changes to our health, vitality and freedom of movement.

Please send me a message if you are curious about how acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help your physical, emotional or spiritual pain - it is an honor to guide you in this process. 🪡🏔️

Late Summer & The Spirit of Yi in Chinese Medicine 🌾💛🌻

Can you feel it? The Yang energy of summer slipping into to the Yin energy of autumn.

Late summer is ruled by the Earth element and is all about digestion. Through the powerhouses of the Stomach, Spleen + Pancreas organ systems, we transform and transport nutrients that fuel our every metabolic function and seed the associated Spirit of Yi - our intellect and emotional foundation through the process of digesting life experience.

The Earth element allows us to stay grounded, steady and resilient in times of change. When our center is functioning at its best, we feel energized, nourished and satisfied with life.

✋Signals of imbalances I most commonly see and treat are:
Hunger with difficulty in deciding or knowing what you want to eat
Bloating, fullness, heaviness, IBS
Spiraling or cyclical thoughts
Disordered eating patterns
Excessive worry
Sweet cravings
Mental fatigue
Boredom
Anxiety

The theme is here is all about being able to live freely and with confidence from our core - the central pivot from which our overall health is cultivated.

Acupuncture hits our biochemistry in a unique way - simultaneously stimulating our digestive organs and the vagus nerve, which quite literally connects the brain + stomach.

In Chinese medicine, we recognize pathology through a system of pattern diagnosis, and no symptom is addressed in isolation.

This is one of my favorite topics to dive into and so rewarding to treat, I’d love to see you on the schedule this season. 🗓️💛🪡
