I am passionate about empowered families who are educated about their pregnancy and birth options. I trust that every parent is capable of making the choices necessary to have a happy & healthy pregnancy, birth and parenthood. As a graduate of the Colorado School of Healing Arts, I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2008. I received my Advanced Certification in Prenatal, Labor and Postpartum Massage in 2009 from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy. I have worked with hundreds of pregnant clients as a massage therapist and am a bit of an anatomy nerd. This combination has helped me develop a unique understanding of how pregnant bodies change throughout pregnancy, in labor and during the postpartum time. This knowledge enhances the support I provide my clients as their doula. I wanted to incorporate my experience and interest in massage with birth work. After years of wanting to be a midwife, I discovered my true talents came alive as a doula. I started Mama Jane Massage so I could be a part of the whole birth process from pregnancy to postpartum and provide my clients with the best care possible. I am a Certified Professional Birth Doula. I received my certification through ToLabor, an organization that believes “all women benefit from support and resources that help them be aware of, and educated about, the options and choices that are available so that they may make informed decisions concerning their birth experience. We embrace the evidence that a woman who actively participates in her birth will have a healthier birth for her baby, herself and her family; physically and emotionally.”
Throughout my life, I have been in women-centered empowering spaces. I have a BA in Women’s Studies and Ethnic Studies from CU Boulder. As a Peace Corps volunteer, I facilitated health and HIV education for female youth in Tonga. And, from 2006-2013 I managed the volunteer program at Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, where they inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. I currently live in Golden, CO with my handsome and talented partner Andrew and my step-daughter Phoenix. After a lifetime of being a cat person they have converted me into an almost-dog person with our chihuahua mix Lily and mastiff Maple. My little family are the loves of my life! Mama Jane Massage is named after my beautiful and kind mother (her name is Linda but my sister and I call her Mama Jane, which is her middle name.) She is the funniest, most loving person I know, and everyday she reminds me of the power of a mother’s love.
