💛 Today is Su***de Prevention Awareness Day. 💛

We often see well-intentioned posts urging us to “check in on people” or “know the signs.” While these reminders matter, they can also create a heavy sense of responsibility, especially for those who have lost someone and are left wondering if they should have done more.

We believe su***de prevention is strongest as a community effort. Sometimes our systems fall short, and that is deeply unfortunate. But each of us can take steps toward building and finding supportive communities. If you’re worried about someone, consider how to share the care. Create a plan that brings in a circle of support rather than carrying the weight alone.

🌲 When Epstein survivors speak, survivors everywhere feel it in their bodies. 💔

🌲 Listening to these testimonies is not just “hard to hear.” For those who’ve lived through sexual assault, it can mean reliving trauma all over again. The courage it takes to tell these stories — publicly, relentlessly — is nothing short of extraordinary.

🌲 May we honor their bravery not by looking away, but by listening, believing, and demanding truth.

💛 Read more on the impact of trauma memories, why these stories feel so heavy, and how survivors can support themselves while witnessing.

by Priscilla Dean, LCPC When I saw Senator Nancy Mace run out of the House Oversight Committee after meeting with some of the survivors of Epstein, hand over her mouth, expressing to a reporter she had a panic attack, I immediately knew what she was experiencing. I have deep compassion for Senat

🌲 Abuse can be hard to identify. We often rationalize the situation, thinking it's "not as bad" as obvious examples of physical abuse, but emotional and psychological damage is just as harmful.

🌲 Relationships are complex, and it’s natural to feel compassion for an abuser’s pain, but that doesn’t mean their actions are acceptable. Leaving an abusive situation can be difficult, especially when daily life is dependent on that person. It’s important to recognize abuse, no matter how it shows up, and seek help.

🌲 It's not always easy... ok, maybe rarely easy... to know how to talk to your teens about serious topics.

💛 But the conversations are important. Here are some tips from our therapist, Taylor French, about how to talk to your teens about mental health and su*c*de.

Happy Pride to all the g**s and theys 💅🏼

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Queerness is something to be celebrated in whatever way that means to you. We here at Evergreen invite all forms of expression, and there are so many ways to express yourself even if you aren’t “out” to your friends and family. Consider what this month brings up for you both in celebration and in recalling suffering for yourself or loved one.

🌲 We live in a society that’s inundated with mental health enthusiasts. Maybe this describes you. Maybe you 📱scour TikTok in search of a “diagnosis” that will validate your dysregulation. Maybe you love quoting “Therapy Tok”, hoping each time that you’ve convinced yourself how self-actualized you’ve become.

👉 Maybe you’ve started to feel like you have no idea who you might be without your weekend bed rotting depressive episodes. 🔔 But internalization of mental health disorders and labels are their own types of (self-created) suffering. 🔔

📅 May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

This year, “awareness” feels less like a campaign and more like a cruel joke. As a therapist with 15 years of experience and a human being currently running on fumes, I’m sharing some unfiltered thoughts on what “mental health” even means in 2025.

💥 Spoiler: You’re not “stressed,” you’re anxious. Your “wellness routine” might be making you sick. And maybe—just maybe—TikTok isn’t your therapist.

by Priscilla Dean, LCPC It’s May of 2025, and it’s Mental Health Awareness month. This almost feels like a cruel irony, because we’re only five months into this chaotic year and my own personal mental health has been dragged, stomped on, and flatlined. What does “mental health” even look l...
