🦋 Why does everyone smile after Tai Chi?

I see it every class. People walk in carrying their day - stress, tight shoulders, busy minds, heavy thoughts.
Then we move. Slowly. Softly. Breathing together.

And something changes. Our bodies begin to sync, we start regulating each other…
And honestly… it feels a little like magic.

🦋 Btw, make sure you pick the right Tai Chi teacher. The teacher matters. A lot. They are setting the emotional and energetic tone of the room, they act like a tuning fork. If teacher is settled, present, and grounded, others resonate toward that state more easily. And students leave the class with big smile on their faces...

Who wants to be on the beach right now? 🏖️

🦋 It’s extremely cold here in Chicagoland today, and I wish I was somewhere warm. But I am not, and I can’t change it. So, I just let go, practice some Tai Chi Cloudy Hands and visualize being on the beach somewhere. Makes me feel better instantly. Give it a try!

🦋 Disclaimer: I recently came across a similar post on social media and it resonated with me deeply. This sounds so accurate!

I know so many people, friends, clients carrying trauma, emotional wounds, feeling stuck, not able to move forward. They’ve tried everything: somatic practices, plant medicine, energy work… and still nothing truly shifts. The body doesn’t feel safe enough to let go.

But sometimes healing doesn’t come from doing more.
Sometimes it comes from doing less.

From returning to Wuji—stillness.

Standing.
Breathing.
Not fixing. Not processing. Not analyzing.
Just being.

This is the essence of Zhan Zhuang.
It allows the body to reorganize itself, the nervous system to settle, and the mind to rest. No effort. No story. Just quiet awareness.

If nothing has worked so far, maybe it’s time to stop searching and simply stand.

I teach Zhan Zhuang every Monday at 7pm CST (online), and in all my in-person Tai Chi classes throughout Chicagoland.

I just completed a 100-day challenge, practicing Zhan Zhuang every day for 15 minutes. The result? I feel calmer, clearer, stronger. And safe in my body. It is a very powerful practice ❤️.

🦋 Let’s practice some Tai Chi Walking together, slow and steady.

In Tai Chi Walking, every step is intentional. You move from foot to foot with control, softness, and presence.
Each step strengthens the legs, improves balance, and teaches the body how to move safely and efficiently. Over time, walking becomes more stable, confident, and effortless.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

I think managing stress and working on balance should be on everyone’s list - especially if you’re over 45. These are also the two main reasons people join Tai Chi classes.

🦋 Only few minutes of TaiChi practice a day can help you to manage your stress and reduce your cortisol level.

In a randomized controlled trial, people who practiced Tai Chi for several months showed significantly lower cortisol reactivity and reported feeling calmer under a psychosocial stress test compared to controls.

If you suspect your health problems are related to elevated cortisol consider Tai Chi.
