Your 6-week clearance checks for infection and bleeding. Not whether your core actually works again. πŸ™ƒ

"Cleared for exercise" β‰  "your pelvic floor and deep core know how to coordinate yet"

Most postpartum bodies need 6+ months of intentional rehab, not permission to do crunches that make diastasis worse.

If you're in the Chicago suburbs dealing with diastasis, core weakness, or got the classic "just wait and see" πŸ‘‹ link in bio to book.

Plot twist: the "healthy habits" you've been doing are actually sabotaging your pelvic floor 🫠

Sucking in your stomach all day? Holding your breath during deadlifts? Hovering over public toilet seats like you're doing wall sits?

Yeah... we need to talk.

"It's all in your head." πŸ™„
"You just need to relax." 😀
"Have you tried more foreplay?" πŸ€¦β™€οΈ

If we had a dollar for every time someone heard this before coming to pelvic PT, we'd retire early.

Here's what actually matters: standard pelvic exams don't assess muscle tension, myofascial trigger points, or connective tissue restrictions - all common causes of s*xual pain.

Your pain is real. You're not broken. You just need an evaluation that looks at the whole pelvic floor system, not just a speculum exam.

Let's figure out what your gyno missed.

I hate the phrase "managing symptoms."

You know what we should be doing? Treating the root cause.

If your roof was leaking, you wouldn't just strategically place buckets around your house and call it "managing moisture." You'd fix the roof.

So why are we telling people with pelvic floor dysfunction to just:
β€’ Plan outings around bathroom locations
β€’ Wear pads "just in case"
β€’ Avoid certain exercises forever
β€’ Accept that s*x is just painful now

That's not management. That's resignation.

Pelvic floor PT actually investigates WHY you're leaking, WHY you have pain, WHY things aren't working the way they should and then we address those root causes.

You don't have to live with this. You don't have to just "manage" it.

Nervous about your first pelvic floor PT appointment? Let me walk you through exactly what happens.

No crinkly paper. No rushing. No double-booking. Just 60 minutes focused entirely on you and figuring out what's actually going on.

You don't have to keep living with leaking, pain, or dysfunction. It's common, but it's not normal and it's treatable.

Your pelvic floor doesn't exist in a vacuum. 🫁

Before we even assess what's happening down there, here's what we look at. πŸ‘‡

Because here's the thing: that leaking when you jump? Might be connected to how you breathe during exercise. πŸ’¨

That pelvic pain? Could be related to how you're compensating from an old hip injury. 🦴

Your pelvic floor is part of a system. We can't treat it like an isolated problem and expect lasting results. πŸ”„

This is why cookie-cutter "just do Kegels" advice falls short. Your body has a story, and we need to understand it before we can help you rewrite the ending. πŸ“–

This is what happens in our first session. We take the time to actually figure out what's going on. ✨

Kegels are probably the most prescribed exercise during pregnancy. And while they *can* be helpful, here's what most people aren't being told:

Your pelvic floor doesn't work in isolation. It's part of your core canister, working with your diaphragm, deep abdominals, and back muscles with every breath.

Pregnancy changes your breathing mechanics, your posture, your alignment - and your pelvic floor has to adapt to ALL of it.

A strong pelvic floor isn't just about squeeze strength. It's about coordination, timing, and working as part of the whole system.

That's what we assess and treat in pelvic floor PT, not just "do 100 Kegels a day and hope for the best."

If you’re peeing β€œjust in case,” your bladder may be learning the wrong habits πŸ’

Pregnancy is a built-in stress test for your pelvic floor. πŸ’ͺ

Leaking during pregnancy? Urgency? Pelvic heaviness? That's your body telling you your pelvic floor is already working overtime.

Here's what most people don't know: developing these symptoms *during pregnancy* is the strongest predictor of postpartum incontinence. Not the birth itself. Not how big your baby is. What happens during those 9 months matters most.

The good news? We can evaluate it, measure it, and improve it. Pelvic floor PT isn't just for after birth, it's for right now πŸ‘
