Often times we can not control certain life experiences and we feel powerless, but in these moments know that you are not powerless to your own thoughts. That your thoughts are like seeds planted in the soil and produce after their kind. Meaning, what you think or focus on can become your reality. That thoughts become things when they are given substance with feelings in the mind.

Our Story:
Twenty-four years ago, six clinicians, who had known and worked together for a number of years, decided to try an organizational experiment. Valuing each other as people and as professionals, they dreamed of building a non-hierarchical practice based on mutual ownership, responsibility and respect. In April 1994, the dream became a reality and was incorporated as Summit Clinical Services.
The name “Summit,” while perhaps surprising for the flatlands of Illinois, was chosen to reflect the therapeutic “landscape” we wanted to create. The summit of a mountain represents a worthy goal—one which requires commitment, persistence and teamwork between clinician and patient. “Summit” also reflects the excellence for which we continually strive in our services. As individuals and as a practice, we want to be peak performers, helping each other hone skills and stay the course, both personally and professionally. And, of course, a summit conference is where people come together to work toward positive change in their world, which is what we want to do.
Today Summit is thriving, with a staff of twelve full- and part-time clinicians providing a full spectrum of therapy and psychiatric services. Aiming to care for all of an individual’s and a family’s needs, Summit offers individual, couple, and family therapy; group therapy; child and adolescent therapy; and medical management of mental health needs, including facilitation of inpatient or day-treatment hospitalization when necessary.
We hope that your experience with us, whether as a patient or a referral source, will benefit from the values to which we have committed ourselves. We welcome opportunities to interact with you. Your feedback is important to us as we continue to grow. It’s an experiment worth continuing!
