I’m a Naturopathic Doctor and this is what I’m doing when I feel like I’m coming down with a 🤒
I’m super loading nutrients- every time I walk past the kitchen I take something to support my immune system. You have to take nutrients and herbs often and in therapeutic doses for them to have an effect. There’s A LOT of nutrients out there. I’m favoring liquids, sprays, tinctures, liposomal deliveries and homeopathics.
I’m drinking lots of water with electrolytes and homemade fresh ginger tea. The ginger tea is really moving the needle on calming my throat symptoms and inflammation.
I took a long, hot bath to stimulate heat shock proteins, natural killer cell activity and lymph flow. This is because I have no fever, mild sore throat, Early viral exposure and general malaise.
I used 4 cups of magnesium flakes, ionic electrolytes and a few drops of essential oils in my bath (not orally) to further support my detox pathways, immune system, nervous system and stress relief.
I applied lymph cream on my neck and upper torso to further support lymphatic function.
I bundled up in breathable cotton and put myself to bed. Bonus if it’s a new, cheerful, colorful hoodie 🤣. Rest is imperative to the neuro-immune system.
I’m eating easy (for me) to digest foods and lots of broths. I’m NOT eating anything with sugar as it depletes the immune system and makes it harder to recover (PMID: 26897277)
I cut our homeschool session short and treating getting better like a full time
job. It’s a busy week mixed with helping the girls write papers, seeing patients and working on bookkeeping. Taking today off to rest instead of pushing myself can pay off dividends if I can recover quickly.
