Hi Everyone. Lots of you know Samara, my daughter. She's sweet and helpful. While she's great at ringing people up and basic helping around the shop, she doesn't have the knowledge I do or any of my more mature shop helpers.
On Saturday Mornings, if I'm busy giving a massage, and she's holding down the fort for a bit and you need in depth help, be kind, considerate and respectful of her. Putting her on the spot and demanding that she call me in the middle of me giving a couple's massage upstairs because you can't wait to be helped is ridiculous. (Not that I would be answering my phone anyways)
Having my massage interrupted by a crying daughter because you are demanding and huffing and puffing in my shop is seriously the wrong way to get help from me!
You are lucky you were gone by the time I got downstairs. I'm more than certain it wouldn't be teas I would recommend to you in this case. >:/
This world is a dumpster fire right now.
Let's all behave a bit better, ok?

Samara is going to be so irritated that I'm posting this, but I'm a proud Mom...
Today is Samara's first day as a server at Vagabond Kitchen here in Wheeling!
I'm both proud and a little sad today. She's grown up here in my shop and has worked by my side for years now. She was just 6 when I opened Under The Elder Tree in 2014. I had really hoped she'd grow into the same calling as me and inherit it someday, but she has her own dreams & goals. She's been in the Culinary Arts program at Park for 3 years now, and plans on attending Northern's program this Fall after graduation. Lots of you have tried her famous Chocolate Truffles when I've featured them periodically- She's a good baker! (there's some for sale at the shop now)
So, I guess I'm a little blue she's growing up and now doing her first big milestone sort of independent of me and the shop's orbit. I've had 2 boys fly the nest, but my last one, my little girl, my buddy, stings a bit.
But I'm super proud of her too!
You all love her here at the shop, go have her wait on you at Vagabond. She's going to rock it as a waitress!

You know, I also love sharing when people have great things to say about here too.
I wanted to post this specific one because she very eloquently captured the feeling & experience I attempt to capture in the
Perfume Blending Experience.
Many have come in, over the years, for on the spot blending in the midst of the busy shop. While it's quick, it can be rushed and not so relaxed & private. I've now gotten to the point where I could carve out a space for a relaxed, intimate experience.
And Jennifer was my first in this new space, and we had a lovely blending session!

I'm posting this to, once again, show that while we love to help you, I simply don't tolerate disrespectful behavior.
(this is a fresh Google review from yesterday's clients. Keep in mind the weather over Friday night into Saturday)
While I don't like them, I don't hide bad reviews- I will address them head on so there is no confusion.
This is a healing space, and it boggles my mind when we get the occasional client or customer who behaves like this.
I'm not posting this for an online war of "she said" but to show, that this is ugly, and if this is how you approach life, don't even walk in my door. I won't put up with it.
And I won't allow people to bully my staff around either.
I will fight like a mama bear to protect them!
All of you who know me and have been with me over the years, know my heart. We are a team of givers and healers here.
We serve, but we won't be walked on.
I appreciate all of you who understand, love and respect us back!
And if you are of a mind to post a positive experience review to offset this negative one, we'd appreciate that too. :)
