Today we recognize the service and sacrifice of the 16.2 million veterans living in the U.S.

Hearing loss is one of the most common service-connected disabilities. More than 1.3 million veterans receive compensation for hearing loss, and over 2.3 million for tinnitus. These conditions often stem from prolonged exposure to loud noise during military service.

Veterans deserve access to care that helps them manage these lasting effects. If you know someone who served and struggles with hearing, encourage them to connect with their local VA audiologist.

🎥 A heartfelt thank you to FOX 9 | KMSP-TV for taking the time to tell the full story — not just the headline. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our mission of advancing fully implanted hearing technology, designed to work with the ear’s natural anatomy and eliminate external components.

We especially appreciate their inclusion of one of our clinical trial participants*, whose experience helps illuminate the real-world impact of this work. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.

Note: The story had some nomenclature mistakes related to the names for the devices. The Esteem® is a fully implanted active middle ear implant and the investigational Acclaim® is a fully implanted cochlear implant. Neither of them are hearing aids. They are hearing prosthetics that are only to be prescribed for people who have tried hearing aids but no longer get enough benefit from them.

👂 Progress in Hearing Health

Envoy Medical is advancing its mission to make hearing fully implanted. The company recently announced that the first three patients have been enrolled in the final stage of a U.S.-based clinical trial for the Acclaim® Cochlear Implant — a device currently under investigation and not yet commercially available.

This fully implanted approach is part of Envoy Medical’s Invisible Hearing® vision — aiming to eliminate external wearable components and work with the ear’s natural anatomy. The goal is to improve comfort, usability, and quality of life for people with significant hearing loss.

📍 Seven clinical sites across the U.S. are participating in the trial, and patient interest has been strong. While the device is still under clinical investigation, this milestone reflects growing momentum in hearing innovation.

Hear Life as You Should

Envoy Medical, maker of the Esteem® hearing implant and the fully implanted Acclaim® cochlear implant, an investigational device, is dedicated to pushing hearing technology beyond the status quo to improve access, usability, compliance and ultimately quality of life. The company is focused on providing innovative technologies across the hearing loss spectrum.

Commercially available in the U.S. since 2010, the Esteem hearing implant is the world’s first and only FDA-approved completely internal hearing device for adults diagnosed with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss for whom hearing aids are no longer adequate. It is completely invisible, offers true 24/7 hearing, and is designed to overcome the limitations of hearing aids that rely on external devices and microphones. The Esteem hearing implant includes a completely novel and unique sensor that leverages the natural anatomy of the ear instead of a microphone to capture sound, and converts it into electrical signals that are used by the implant to address hearing loss.

The same proven and novel sensor technology used in the Esteem hearing implant will also be used in the fully implanted Acclaim cochlear implant, currently under development.
