Ever feel worn out after listening all day?

When you have hearing loss, your brain works extra hard to fill in the gaps—especially in meetings, group conversations, restaurants, or noisy places.

Over time, that constant effort can lead to fatigue, headaches, and stress.

Remember to take breaks, reduce background noise when possible, and use captions and other visual cues to help support communication!

According to the Hearing Loss Association of America, people wait an average of about seven years from when they first suspect hearing loss to when they seek treatment.

If you’re living with hearing loss, how long did you wait to take action—and what do you wish you had done sooner?

A Big Step Forward for People Living With Severe to Profound Hearing Loss!

Envoy Medical has reached an exciting milestone: the U.S. clinical trial studying the fully implanted Acclaim® Cochlear Implant has now finished enrolling participants, and the research team is moving into the follow‑up phase.

This investigational device is being studied as a potential option for adults who want a fully implanted approach—without external components worn on or in the ear. The final participants in the trial were implanted this week, and the study will now move into the follow‑up phase.

Hearing loss can be isolating, emotional, and frustrating. Many people have shared that they’ve been waiting for a fully implanted cochlear implant to even consider surgery. Hearing those stories is a big part of why this research matters.

While the Acclaim cochlear implant is not yet FDA‑approved and is still being studied, completing this phase of the trial brings us one step closer to understanding whether this fully implanted technology may become an option in the future.

Celebrating World Hearing Day!

Today we’re highlighting the importance of routine hearing screening in schools. Early checks help identify issues before they affect a child’s communication, learning, and long‑term outcomes.

While Envoy Medical’s implantable technologies are designed for adults, we proudly support efforts that strengthen early detection and timely referral for children through school health programs.

Early screening changes lives. 💙

🌎Celebrating International Cochlear Implant Day!

Cochlear implants are an important option for people with more significant hearing loss who may not receive enough benefit from traditional hearing aids. Unlike hearing aids, which amplify sound acoustically, cochlear implants work by bypassing the damaged areas of the inner ear and delivering sound information through electrical stimulation of the auditory nerve.

Today, we join the global community in raising awareness of cochlear implant technology, ongoing research, and the many individuals and organizations who advance the field.

As our own fully implanted cochlear implant system remains investigational and is currently being studied in U.S FDA clinical trials, we are proud to support awareness efforts and contribute to continued innovation in hearing health.

We’ve secured three new patents — one in the United States and two in Hong Kong — helping us continue our work in the future of fully implanted hearing technology.

At Envoy Medical, we’re developing a different approach to hearing solutions. Our Nature’s Microphone™ technology is designed to use the natural ear to capture sound, rather than relying on external microphones or devices worn on or in the ear. Many people with hearing loss rely on devices that need to be put on, removed, or managed throughout the day — which can mean there are moments when they’re not connected to sound. We’re working on a path that could one day help change that.

This different approach is present in our investigational Acclaim® Cochlear Implant, which is currently being evaluated in a U.S. pivotal clinical trial. Our goal is to advance technology that prioritizes access, ease of use, and long‑term usability and these patents further support that goal.

We’re grateful to everyone who supports Envoy Medical — including the hearing loss community and the families who walk alongside them. Your encouragement keeps us moving forward as we work to push hearing technology beyond the status quo.

Progress Toward a New Fully Implanted Option for Hearing Loss

Envoy Medical is making important progress in our pivotal clinical trial for the investigational fully implanted Acclaim® Cochlear Implant. Forty‑seven people have already been implanted, and the remaining participants are scheduled for surgery. Once enrollment is complete, each participant will be followed for one year. The next major step is gathering and analyzing that data as we move toward the regulatory submission and review process.

We also recently secured new financing that helps us continue advancing this work.

On February 25 at 10 a.m. ET, Envoy Medical’s CEO will host a Fireside Chat with Dr. Theodore McRackan, a surgeon who has implanted the Acclaim® cochlear implant in 14 trial participants. They will discuss early insights and the potential impact of this technology if it is approved.

We’ve been busy at Envoy Medical — and the momentum is strong!

We’re excited to share that 45 of 56 participants have now been implanted with our investigational fully implanted Acclaim® cochlear implant in the pivotal clinical trial, putting it at over 80% enrolled. Full enrollment is anticipated by the end of March.

"Reaching 45 implanted patients and being approximately one month away from full enrollment is an exciting milestone for our entire organization. The journey to get to this point has been long, but we are now moving quickly and with great confidence." — Brent Lucas, CEO

The Acclaim® implant is designed to leverage the ear to capture sound with no external components worn on or in the ear – similar to the way nature intended.

Hear Life as You Should

Envoy Medical, maker of the Esteem® hearing implant and the fully implanted Acclaim® cochlear implant, an investigational device, is dedicated to pushing hearing technology beyond the status quo to improve access, usability, compliance and ultimately quality of life. The company is focused on providing innovative technologies across the hearing loss spectrum.

Commercially available in the U.S. since 2010, the Esteem hearing implant is the world’s first and only FDA-approved completely internal hearing device for adults diagnosed with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss for whom hearing aids are no longer adequate. It is completely invisible, offers true 24/7 hearing, and is designed to overcome the limitations of hearing aids that rely on external devices and microphones. The Esteem hearing implant includes a completely novel and unique sensor that leverages the natural anatomy of the ear instead of a microphone to capture sound, and converts it into electrical signals that are used by the implant to address hearing loss.

The same proven and novel sensor technology used in the Esteem hearing implant will also be used in the fully implanted Acclaim cochlear implant, currently under development.
