5 Forms of Self-Care for Postpartum 🤍

Postpartum is a beautiful season of healing, adjusting, and learning - not just for your baby, but for you, too. While “self-care” can sound like spa days and bubble baths, in this season it often looks more like supporting your body and mind in simple, sustainable ways.

Here are 5 ways to care for yourself postpartum:
1️⃣ Nervous System Check-Ins
Pregnancy, birth, and motherhood create massive shifts in your nervous system. Nervous-system-focused chiropractic care helps restore balance, improve adaptability, and support recovery.

2️⃣ Rest When You Can
Yes, we know it sounds cliché, but even small moments of rest can help regulate cortisol, stabilize mood, and promote healing. Let go of “doing it all” for now.

3️⃣ Nourish Intentionally
Choose nutrient-dense meals and snacks that support hormone balance, replenish lost minerals, and keep your blood sugar steady - all of which impact mood, energy, and milk supply.

4️⃣ Support Your Core & Pelvic Floor
Work with a pelvic floor therapist or gentle postpartum exercise program to rebuild strength and stability. This helps prevent long-term aches, pains, and mobility issues.

5️⃣ Ask for Help (and Accept It)
Whether it’s meals, childcare, or simply company, saying “yes” to help lightens your mental and physical load - and gives your nervous system the space it needs to recover.

Prioritizing yourself during postpartum isn’t selfish! It’s the foundation for showing up as the healthiest version of you, for your baby and yourself.

The Everyday Wins We Celebrate in Our Office 🤍

One of our favorite parts of being family chiropractors is getting to celebrate the everyday wins with our patients - the little (and big!) moments that show their nervous system is adapting and their body is working better.

Some of the wins we hear often:

✨ “My baby is finally sleeping through the night.”
✨ “My headaches are gone - I didn’t realize how much they were holding me back.”
✨ “My child’s focus at school has improved so much.”
✨ “I’ve had more energy and patience with my kids this week.”
✨ “My digestion has been the best it’s been in years.”

These may sound small to some, but they’re life-changing for the families experiencing them - and a sign that their body is healing and functioning the way it’s designed to.

Chiropractic care is about more than pain relief. It’s about helping your body adapt, restore balance, and unlock potential you didn’t even realize was missing.
We’d love to hear about the wins you’ve experienced with chiropractic care - big or small, they matter!

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11th and honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who showed the world the strength of the American spirit.

We stand united - in remembrance, in resilience, and in pride - holding close the memory of those taken too soon and the legacy of a nation that came together in its darkest hour.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸🕊️

Subtle Signs Your Hormones Might Be Out of Balance

Hormones play a role in everything - from your mood and sleep to your energy, metabolism, and ability to handle stress. When they’re out of balance, your body will often send quiet signals long before a bigger issue shows up.

Some subtle signs to watch for:

😴 Trouble falling or staying asleep
🍫 Increased sugar or carb cravings
💥 Unexplained irritability or mood swings
😌 Feeling “flat” or low motivation
🌊 Irregular cycles or more intense PMS
🧠 Brain fog or trouble concentrating

Your nervous system plays a huge role in hormone regulation. It communicates directly with your endocrine system - the network of glands that produces and regulates hormones. When the nervous system is functioning at its best, it helps keep your body’s signals clear, your stress response balanced, and your hormones more stable.

Chiropractic care supports optimal nervous system function, which can help your body better regulate hormone production and improve how you adapt to stress!

How a Healthy Brain/Body Connection Improves Learning 📚✨

Focus, memory, and learning all start with how well the nervous system is functioning.

When the brain and body are communicating clearly, kids are better able to focus, adapt, and retain new information. But when that communication is disrupted, it can make learning feel harder than it needs to be.

Here’s why that connection matters:
The nervous system is the pathway between the brain and the body. It controls attention, memory, emotional regulation, motor coordination, and how we process what’s happening around us - all essential parts of learning. 🧠

When there’s stress or interference in that system, it can show up as:
- Difficulty concentrating
- Sensory overwhelm
- Emotional outbursts
- Fatigue or frustration with schoolwork

Chiropractic care helps restore clarity in that brain/body connection. A regulated nervous system helps the brain and body work with each other instead of feeling stuck in a state of stress.

A calm, connected nervous system also lays the foundation for better learning - not just academically, but emotionally and socially, too!

The Nervous System: The Foundation for a Strong Immune System

When you think about immune health, you might picture supplements, exercise, or eating nutritious foods - and those matter! But did you know your nervous system is the control center that keeps your immune system running effectively?

Your brain and spinal cord constantly send messages to every immune cell in your body, guiding how it detects and responds to threats. If your nervous system is stressed, overloaded, or not functioning at its best, those signals can get mixed up - leaving your immune defenses sluggish or overreactive.

Through chiropractic adjustments that are tailored to YOUR body, we help restore clarity and balance to your nervous system. This allows your body to communicate more efficiently, adapt more quickly, and keep your immune system ready to respond when it’s needed most.

A strong immune system starts with a well-connected nervous system. 💪🛡 When your body’s communication pathways are open, you’re better equipped to thrive - in every season.

At Naturally Aligned, our goal is for chiropractic care to help you experience a higher quality of life, from the inside out. ✨

Your nervous system is the foundation of how your body functions day to day. It regulates everything - movement, digestion, sleep, energy, hormones, and emotional balance.

But, when stress builds or interference disrupts communication between the brain and body, that function can slowly decline. You might not feel “sick,” but you might notice:

→ Low energy or motivation
→ Trouble sleeping or recovering
→ Feeling easily overwhelmed
→ Mood swings or brain fog
→ Discomfort that comes and goes

These signs are your body’s way of saying, “I’m not functioning at my best.”

Chiropractic adjustments remove interference from the nervous system, allowing your body to regulate, heal, and thrive the way it’s designed to. It’s not about masking symptoms - it’s about restoring adaptability, clarity, and resilience.

When your nervous system is supported, everything works better - and that’s when quality of life improves in ways you didn’t even realize you were missing. ✨

You know your child better than anyone. If something feels off - even if it’s small - it’s worth paying attention to.

As pediatric chiropractors, we often see kids whose parents just “had a feeling” something wasn’t quite right:

✨ Baby who always turns their head one way.
✨ Toddler who seems clumsier than usual.
✨ Child who struggles with focus or emotional regulation.
✨ Recurring tummy aches without a clear cause.
✨ Sleep patterns that never seem to settle.

These might not seem connected at first glance - but your child’s nervous system plays a role in ALL of them. When it’s not functioning at its best, the body can struggle to coordinate movement, regulate emotions, process sensory input, and support healthy digestion and sleep.

Gentle, nervous-system–focused chiropractic care helps restore clearer communication between brain and body, supporting better balance, adaptability, and development.

If your gut says something’s off - you’re probably right. We’re here to help you uncover the “why” and guide your child back toward thriving.

The Connection Between Balance, Dizziness, and Brain-Body Communication 🧠⚡️

Your sense of balance depends on clear communication between your brain, your body, and the world around you. A key part of that system sits right at the top of your spine - the upper cervical region, just beneath the base of your skull.

This area protects the brainstem, where important signals are sent between the brain and body. It also works closely with sensors in your muscles, joints, and inner ear to give your brain constant feedback about where you are in space.

When the upper cervical spine is under stress - from posture, injury, or daily strain - it can interfere with that communication. Your brain may misinterpret the signals it’s receiving, which can feel like dizziness, unsteadiness, or a loss of coordination.

Chiropractic adjustments help restore clarity in brain–body communication! With a calmer, better-connected nervous system, your body can process information more accurately, improving steadiness, stability, and overall function. ✨

Most people think of “health” as simply feeling good or being free of symptoms. But true health is about how well your body can adapt to life’s changes and challenges - whether that’s a stressful week at work, a new sports season, or shifting seasons.

Your nervous system is the command center for that adaptability! It constantly processes information from your environment and directs your body’s responses - from immune function and hormone balance to muscle coordination and emotional regulation.

When your nervous system is functioning at its best, you can handle stress, recover more quickly, and stay balanced - no matter your age or stage of life. That’s why ADAPTABILITY is the number one marker of health we look for in kids, teens, and adults alike!
