The Avalon Mall is such a cute, quirky building and I'm happy to call it my new home away from home!

Before it was Avalon Mall, this building was the Avalon Theatre. Built in 1928 by Mrs. Jessie Jensen, it was once a grand movie theater where the community gathered to watch films and attend events.

In the 1980s, the space was transformed into what we now know as Avalon Mall, the home to local shops and businesses in the heart of downtown.. like Ellie Wellness & Esthetics! ♥️

Do you ever start to panic when my hands pause during your session?

I promise I’m not zoning out! I may just be doing Myofascial Release ✨

Unlike traditional massage that focuses on muscles, myofascial release works on fascia, your connective tissue.

Fascia is more like a thick, gel-like web than elastic muscle. It wraps and weaves around each muscle like a sausage casing.

It doesn’t respond to quick pressure. It needs time to unravel.

When I pause and hold, here’s what’s happening:
• Dense collagen fibers begin to absorb hydration and soften
• Fascia gradually lengthens under slow, steady load
• Quick movements can trigger protective tightening, while slow pressure allows safe release
• The slowness calms your system and shifts muscle memory, not just surface tension

Think of it less like “working harder” and more like allowing the tissue to melt.

Healing isn’t rushed here! Sometimes the deepest change happens in stillness.

👋 Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Danielle, also fondly known as "Ellie" to many of my friends and clients!

I enrolled in beauty school in 2009 as a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed 18 year old with a dream of owning my very own spa business one day. I knew I wanted a career where i could help people. I enjoy the calming and healing atmosphere the spa environment and esthetics industry provides.

After experiencing deep heartbreak, I realized life is too precious to wait on your dreams to happen, so I listened to the whispers of my heart and went back to school for Massage Therapy in 2015. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Along the way, I have taken additional training & certifications in Healing Touch, Usui Reiki, Thai Yoga, Myofascial Release, and CranioSacral Therapy (CST). I was most recently in Thailand learning the healing art of Thai Massage. I also have an Associate of Arts from Century College (2020), with my sights set on finishing my Bachelor's degree.

My special interests include trauma-informed bodywork and intuitive healing practices, and I hope to expand my mind and heart to further my knowledge of these offerings.

So here I am now: owner of Ellie Wellness & Esthetics LLC, located in downtown White Bear Lake. My approach is tailored to meet you where you're at - come as you are, you are always welcome on my table 💗

When I am not with clients, I enjoy traveling, yoga, jorurnaling, diamond painting, riding my bike, gardening, curling up with a good book, hanging with my fur babies, and bonfires.

2026 & new beginnings.. 🎉

It's been my absolute pleasure to be your service provider at Sunbear Spa. I've learned and grown so much over the last seven years and it's bittersweet for me to say that chapter has come to a close.

I am overjoyed to announce that I have pursued my dream of branching out on my own as Ellie Wellness & Esthetics ✨️ I have been busy putting my personal touches on a beautiful new space.

I will announce my official opening very soon, so stay tuned 💖 message me if you would like to hop on my schedule in the meantime!

I really took care of myself in Thailand! Not only did I receive bodywork each day in class, I also booked Thai massages with Tok Sen, abdominal massage, and mani/pedis, and did morning yoga 3-4x's/week. I walked miles each day in the hot, humid climate. I ate real food and fruit in-season and grown fresh, not food packed with preservatives, hormones, and pesticides. My body and skin changed from day 1 to day 14. I feel better from the inside out.

Some big takeaways that I already was aware of, but could see plain as day while in Thailand:
🤍 natural, organic ingredients
🤍 MOVE your body - don't be afraid to sweat!
🤍 hard water is hard on your skin and hair, wash your face and hair with purified water
🤍 invest in a humidifier or facial steamer
🤍 monthly massages are nice - twice weekly Thai massages are out of this world amazing!!

I brought home Thai tiger balm and Korean skin care to try! 🤗 Minnesota dry made me use one of my sheet masks immediately 😩

The summer after I graduated from beauty school, I took all the tip cash I saved from hosting at Applebee's and went to Colorado. I still think about that giant pickle jar full of dollar bills. I've upgraded my container from the pickle jar (it made my money smell like pickles haha!) but I still save my bills to do fun things with. And today I did a big, scary thing and booked a trip of a lifetime to Thailand with my tip cash. I've wanted to visit Thailand for half my life, and now I'll be going in November. Don't let fear stop you from going after your dreams 🧡
