You’re doing juice cleanses, gut protocols, and liver supplements, but if your nervous system is dysregulated, your body CAN’T detoxify effectively.

If you clench your jaw at night, your pelvic floor is probably tight too.

Did you know that your jaw and pelvic floor have a direct connection to one another?

Your jaw and your pelvic floor are connected through your dura (the membrane running from skull to tailbone), your fascia (connective tissue web), and your nervous system. Tension at one end affects the other end.

When your jaw is tight, it creates tension that travels down to your pelvic floor. When your pelvic floor is tight, it travels UP to your jaw.

What this looks like:
You have TMJ pain, jaw clenching, teeth grinding AND pelvic floor dysfunction - incontinence, pain with s*x, tight hips. You’re going to the dentist for your jaw and pelvic floor PT for your pelvis. But nobody’s addressing the CONNECTION.
Your dentist gives you a night guard.
Your PT gives you exercises.

If you’ve tried more fiber, more water, prunes, Miralax, probiotics - and NOTHING works consistently - you’re treating the symptom, not the root cause.

Your digestive system doesn’t run on food alone. It’s controlled by your nervous system.

Brain → Spinal Cord → Nerves → Digestive Organs

These nerves tell your stomach when to produce acid, intestines when to contract (peristalsis), colon when to push, and sphincters when to open.

When there’s interference in the your lower spine due to stress or tension:
-Nerve signals to digestive organs get blocked

Specific and intentional adjustments to the spine (especially mid-back and sacrum) to remove the interference blocking nerve signals to digestive organs, restore proper nerve flow so peristalsis works, support vagus nerve function (rest-and-digest nerve), and shift the nervous system out of stress mode into “safe to digest” mode.

Your kid’s eczema isn’t a skin problem. It’s an inflammation problem. 🌿

If you’re stuck in the steroid cream cycle - flare-up, treat, temporary relief, repeat - you’re not alone. And you’re not crazy for thinking there has to be a better way.

Eczema and hives are your child’s body pushing internal inflammation OUT through the skin.
But where does that inflammation come from?
The nervous system.

When your child’s nervous system is dysregulated, it triggers chronic inflammation, histamine overproduction, immune hyperactivity, and gut issues...and all of that shows up on the skin.

Your nervous system controls your gut.

The upper neck controls more than you think. C1 and C2 - two tiny bones protecting your brainstem - affect your emotions, ears, throat, thyroid, and entire physical health. 🧠

Your brainstem controls every automatic function keeping you alive: heart rate, breathing, sleep, digestion, emotional regulation, sensory processing, and more.

When C1 or C2 are under stress (from birth trauma, falls, car accidents, poor posture, chronic stress), they can compress or irritate the brainstem - and everything goes wrong.

What your upper neck controls:

Picky eating isn’t just about the food. It’s a sensory issue. And sensory issues are nervous system issues. 🍎

If your child only eats 5-7 safe foods, gags at new textures, has meltdowns over food touching on the plate, and won’t try anything new despite all your efforts - this isn’t behavioral. It’s neurological.

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) happens when the nervous system can’t properly filter and integrate sensory input. For eating, this means certain foods trigger fight-or-flight response just from sight, smell, or texture.

Their nervous system perceives food as a THREAT. It’s not willful - it’s physiological.

Sensory processing happens in the brainstem. When there’s dysfunction (from birth trauma, spinal misalignment, developmental stress), sensory input isn’t filtered properly, everything feels more intense, and normal experiences become overwhelming.

Strep bacteria is everywhere. Most people are exposed but don’t get infected. So why do YOU keep getting sick?

Because your immune system isn’t mounting an effective defense and your immune system is controlled by your nervous system.

We’ve been taught these are “mental health issues” that need to be managed with medication, therapy, or just “trying harder.” But what if we told you that your mental health can be changed neurologically?

Your vagus nerve - the main highway between your brain and body - runs from your brainstem, past C1 (the first bone in your neck), down to your heart, lungs, and gut.
When C1 isn’t able to communicate properly due to stress and dysfunction, vagus nerve function is compromised. This can lead to:
1. Your brain can’t properly regulate mood
2. Your stress response stays activated
3. Inflammation increases in the brain
4. Anxiety and depression worsen

Research shows that chiropractic adjustments (especially upper cervical) increase vagal tone, reduce stress hormones, improve brain-body communication, and help regulate the autonomic nervous system.

Dr. Jen sees all ages and has a particular focus on providing care for moms and children, with extensive studies completed in pregnancy and pediatrics, including the Webster Certification.

When she is not in the office, Dr. Jen loves to cook and brew her own kombucha. She has a natural living blog, I Am Her, which serves as a resource for those who desire to create a shift in their lives. She hopes to educate, inspire and motivate others to better health inside as well as outside of the clinic. Though new to our community, she chose it because she loved it and knew she wanted to be a part of it and eventually raise her family here.
