What does it truly mean to care for someone at the end of life?
At Agape Hospice, it means leading with heart, and today, we’re sharing a glimpse into that heart through the words of our owner, who also serves as a hands-on nurse caring for patients every day:
“Working in hospice has fundamentally shaped the way I experience people and life. It has made me love more openly, more quickly, and more deeply. When you are constantly reminded that tomorrow is never guaranteed, your perspective shifts—small things matter less, and human connection matters more.
That awareness heightens both empathy and anxiety. You become more present in others’ pain, while also carrying the weight of how fragile life truly is.
Hospice work is meaningful—but it isn’t light. You walk alongside patients and families through some of life’s most difficult moments, and you carry pieces of those experiences with you. And because of that, I’ve learned how important it is to be intentional about caring for myself, too—offering myself the same grace and compassion I give to others.”
This is the heart behind what we do. Compassion, presence, and deep human connection, every single day.
