CELEBRATING SUCCESS! Joann Carmean choose Rapid Recovery for her rehabilitation following a lengthy hospital stay. She admitted with a goal of increasing the strength in her legs so that she could safely ambulate and return home with her husband, Nick.
When asked how she felt about her stay and the overall nursing care and therapy, she replied, "It was very good. Lauren and Melanie were especially supportive." Thank you Joann & Nick for trusting us with your care! We wish you both all the best!

National CNA (certified nursing assistants) Week is being celebrated at WHNR. Although they are appreciated 365 days a year, we take this special opportunity to pay tribute to our dedicated CNA's who form the backbone of our Home. They are the unsung heroes of the frontline care and we appreciate their commitment to the Residents, their co-workers and the healthcare profession.

Rapid Recovery Success Story - Shelby Pence chose RR for her rehab stay. She successfully completed her therapy program and discharged today. We are so blessed she chose us, she is such a lovely lady and friendships were made. Shelby said that her goal when coming for short term rehab was to be able to walk again, regaining her strength and endurance and be safe to return to her home. She accomplished that goal, learned how to safely use her walker and feels so much stronger. She wanted to let Payton know how much she appreciated the morning hugs. "It lifts a person's soul!" When asked if there was anything particular with RR that made her stay more comfortable she replied, "the private dining room where I could sit and visit with other people and make friendships."

We will miss Shelby but wish her all the best! Congratulations on achieving your goals and successfully returning home.

NOW OFFERING VIRTUAL REALITY in our therapy programs. The Omnicycle has been in our therapy gym since the beginning. It offers adjustable resistance levels and can adapt to patient's physical limitations. Therapists use interval training to increase the overall time and intensity of training. Paired with our new OmniTour, our rehab guests can virtually cycle through outdoor landscapes, motivating them to train more often and with greater effort.

Patients' with pulmonary dysfunction, those who are acutely ill, or those who have been hospitalized for extended periods often face the risk of deconditioning or developing muscle weakness.

Our Therapy Department offers physical, occupational and speech therapy 5-7 days per week as ordered by your physician. Intense, individualized therapy programs are set up based on the patients former baseline, physician orders and the evaluations of the therapists. If you're needing short term rehab, choose Rapid Recovery with private suites, private bathroom with shower, desk, TV/Cable/WiFi, personal refrigerator, microwave/coffee pot, private dining and private entrance. May Employee of the Month - Misty Whiteaker was chosen as the Employee of the Month for May. Misty returned to WHNR as the Social Service Assistant working on our Rapid Recovery Unit. She met with family and residents upon admission, followed them through their short term rehab stay and assisted them with setting up any home services upon discharge. She strived to ensure that each had a safe and successful return home. She eventually also took on the duties of working with the residents and staff of the Memory Unit.

Recently Misty was promoted to Social Service Director and will continue work with families and residents while overseeing all aspects of adjusting to admission, being an advocate for both families and residents, assessing & working, in conjunction with the rest of the interdisciplinary team, to create an individualized plan of care.

Misty was chosen for this honor because of her dedication, compassion, work ethic and willingness to assist her many co-workers with anything needed. Congratulations Misty and thank you for all you do!
