Did you know that September is National Cholesterol Education Month? Cholesterol is a sticky substance that is known to clog arteries and restrict blood flow thus leading to an increased risk of heart attack or stroke. Factors that influence cholesterol include genetics, diet (high fat and processed foods), ni****ne use, alcohol use, and sedentary lifestyle. Reduce your risk by aiming for 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity per week, minimize red meat intake (beef, pork, lamb, deer), minimize processed foods, quit ni****ne and alcohol use, and increase intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Along with the lovely fall weather comes the not so lovely sick season. Flu season runs October-May and it is recommended to get your flu vaccine before the season starts. Vaccines take 2 weeks to take effect so you want to plan ahead. We have flu vaccines in stock. It is recommended to get the vaccine in mid-September through October.

Walk in sick clinic
On Saturday, August 23, we will be offering a walk in sick clinic from 8am-12pm. No appointments. It will be first come, first serve. Due to insurance restrictions, HMO clients can only be seen if Kelly Johnson is listed as Mandy Coffey will not be available. We are considering offering Saturday sick hours in the future and are going to slowly start introducing occasional Saturdays to test interest in this option.

Good morning everyone.
We were informed yesterday that Christus is no longer in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

We are still accepting Blue Cross patients, they howeverer are not taking appointments past 7/1

For our patients, that means if you have a specialist or a procedure (colonoscopy or mammogram) it will need to be redirected to a different facility.

If you have a pending referral or specialist, please contact our office and we will work on making new arrangements for you.
