Love Is Blind season 8 meets Dog Day Out... and we're ready to say, "I do!"

Thanks to VCA Charities' amazing partners at Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, in collaboration with their Dog Day Out initiative, we are grateful for the success of the Fido Field Trip Program! Back in the Spring, the shelter dogs got their own ā€œLove is Blindā€ adventure when the fabulous ladies of Season 8 joined the fun, taking some shelter pups out for unforgettable field trips filled with smiles.

Did you know that research shows that dogs who experience a single day outside the shelter are 10x more likely to be adopted?! These outings give shelter dogs a break from the kennel, which reduces stress while increasing community volunteerism.

We want your (pets!) p**p!

I’m sure you’ve never heard that one before!
Why do we want p**p?
Well, with Antech’s f***l keyscreen we can test for 20 different intestinal parasites. They are also able to tell us if certain strains of parasites are zoonotic-meaning that you might be able to get them too-ewww!
The Center for Disease Control recommends yearly testing for a f***l sample. So don’t skimp on the p**p when you bring your pet in for their next wellness visit!

šŸ”„ HOT ASPHALT AWARENESS šŸ”„

It's going to be a scorcher this week!

As the weather warms up, the pavement warms up even faster and paw burns are painful.

If the air temperature is 70°F then that means the asphalt will be even hotter. The pavement at that temperature will be closer to 125°F which is too hot for your pup's paws.

And as the air warms up even further, the streets and sidewalk get even hotter still... at 87°F the pavement will be up to 143°F!

Remember, if you can't place your skin comfortably on the pavement, neither can your dog.

Even relatively mild temperatures can burn your pet's sensitive paw pads.

Some symptoms of burned paws include:

šŸ”„ Limping or avoiding walking
šŸ”„ Kicking / chewing paws
šŸ”„ Pads visibly damaged
šŸ”„ Blisters or redness

Some preventative recommendations include:

šŸ‘Ÿ Doggie shoes
⌚ Shortening walks if outside temp is above 80°F
🌊 Keeping water bottles on hand when going for short potty walks.

According to the forecast, air temperatures in our area could climb to 97°F by Friday.

So please keep your pet's paws safe this week!
