No Diet Day is a reminder of how much noise exists around food and bodies.

Diet culture tells you to control your body.
But healing often looks like learning to listen instead.

At Erica Leon Nutrition and Associates, we fully support moving away from rules and toward a more connected, compassionate relationship with your body.

You don’t need another set of rules.

You need support, curiosity, and space to reconnect with what your body actually needs.

If you’re looking for support in your relationship with food or your body, we’re here.

The only difference between anorexia and atypical anorexia in diagnostic criteria is body weight… yet both involve the same harmful patterns of restriction, obsession with food and body image, and serious medical risks.

Labeling someone as “atypical” can minimize their struggle and delay the care they need. All eating disorders deserve to be taken seriously, regardless of body size.

Share this with someone who needs to hear it today.

Health is not created by “perfect eating” or rigid rules. When eating becomes about control, “clean” choices, or getting it exactly right, it often leads to stress, guilt, and disconnection from hunger, fullness, and enjoyment. Honestly, that is how eating disorders develop.

Sustainable health comes from nourishment that fits real life, respects individual needs, and supports both physical well-being and peace with food.

Insurance denial for eating disorder nutrition therapy does NOT mean care isn’t covered.

Claims are often denied for paperwork issues, coding differences, or benefit misunderstandings - not because treatment is unnecessary.

In this article, learn:
• Why claims get denied
• The difference between preventive and medical nutrition benefits
• What to ask your insurance company
• How to appeal clearly and effectively

Getting help for your eating disorder should not depend on how well you speak “insurance.”

When your appetite is suppressed, which can happen when you are on weight loss drugs, eating can start to feel confusing or stressful - especially if you’re in eating disorder recovery or supporting someone who is.

Medications that suppress appetite can make it harder to recognize your body’s needs, increase anxiety around meals, or create pressure to eat less than your body actually requires.

I wrote an article that offers a recovery-first perspective on navigating low appetite, recognizing when it may be time to pause and seek support, along with finding gentle, practical ways to stay nourished without guilt or fear.

Mixed messages in the new national dietary guidelines can leave people unsure of what to trust. Without clear explanations, many turn to rigid interpretations, extreme diets, or online misinformation.

Clear, contextual guidance helps people make balanced choices instead of swinging between “good” and “bad” food rules.
