Dr. Shelly Hsieh, MD, Director of the Outpatient Spinal Cord Injury Program, Liz Dominick, Program Director of Sci/Neuro, PT, DPT, NCS, and Loriann O’Brien, MSN, RN, CRRN, Director of Nursing Informatics & Operations presented at the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Healthcare Summit in New Orleans.

The title of their presentation was “Take Control Back Program: Implementation of an Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Neurogenic Bladder and Bowel Training Program.” The team discussed how they developed and implemented an interdisciplinary neurogenic bowel/bladder training program at Burke with grant funding from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation.

We congratulate six Burke Rehabilitation physical therapists who have recently become APTA Board Certified. These Burke staff members were recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy for demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and skills in Orthopedic or Neurologic practice. They are among 22 Board Certified therapists at Burke.

Pursuing advanced certification reflects a commitment to clinical excellence and highlights the essential role of physical therapy in enhancing mobility, independence, and quality of life for patients.

We’re excited to share news from Archbishop Stepinac High School that they have appointed Haley Wilton, MS, LAT, ATC, from Burke Rehabilitation, as their new Head Athletic Trainer through the multi-year collaboration between Stepinac and Burke.

Haley brings a wealth of experience in sports medicine, injury prevention, and athlete care, and will play a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and performance of Stepinac’s student-athletes, both on and off the field.

We’re proud to see Burke’s high standard of care supporting the Crusaders’ athletes, and we join Stepinac in giving Haley a warm welcome!

The expert care team at Burke Rehabilitation helped Glenn, a determined 58-year-old from Chestnut Ridge, NY, overcome the challenges of osteoarthritis and hip replacement surgery.

Following his surgery at Montefiore Nyack Hospital, Glenn chose Burke for intensive rehabilitation, where a personalized therapy plan helped him regain strength, mobility, and independence.
