Burke Rehabilitation proudly celebrates 12 physicians recognized by Castle Connolly Top Doctors, a distinction honoring healthcare leaders for their excellence, innovation, and dedication to improving patient outcomes. This recognition also reflects Burke’s standing among Castle Connolly Top Hospitals, which spotlight institutions providing exceptional care.

We are equally proud of three rising stars, Dr. Ghuman, Dr. Shah, and Dr. Hsieh, who have also been named Castle Connolly Top Doctors. Nominated by their peers, these early-career physicians are emerging leaders in medicine, making meaningful contributions through clinical care, research, and community service.

Dr. Shelly Hsieh and Dr. Haris Choudry advocated for the field of physiatry on Capitol Hill. Through their committee work with the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP), they had the opportunity to meet with the offices of Senators and House Representative regarding critical issues impacting healthcare. Their efforts focused on promoting the value of inpatient rehabilitation facilities, increased funding for graduate medical education and supporting investment in rehabilitation research.

This week, Burke Rehabilitation hosted a Medical Student Fair, welcoming 68 students from 19 medical schools to explore PM&R through hands-on stations demonstrating splinting, spine board use, and sling applications. Supported by a grant from the Association of Academic Physiatrists and in collaboration with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Burke remains the only free-standing rehabilitation hospital in the Hudson Valley offering an event of this kind.

We are grateful for Chairman Gashi’s interest in Burke and the Board’s support of The Suzanne & Craig Packer Safely Home Fund. This fund was established to provide assistance to our most vulnerable patients, ensuring that financial need is never a roadblock to a successful rehabilitation and a safe transition home and back to the community.
