Janet Herbold, Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Operations, Dr. Mooyeon Oh-Park, Chief Physician, Research & Innovation, and Valerie Vermiglio-Kohn, Chief Nursing Officer, represented Burke Rehabilitation at the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA) meetings on Capitol Hill this week, discussing the most pressing policy issues impacting rehabilitation hospitals.

Valerie also joined a panel discussion, “The Value of Nursing in Rehabilitation: Models, Collaboration, and Outcomes,” part of AMRPA’s Summit for Transforming Inpatient Rehabilitation (STIR) workshop.

After a stroke left him unable to sit up, Jose had one goal: to return to his family in their fifth-floor walkup in the Bronx. From his first days at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, he received intensive inpatient therapy, determined to rebuild his strength.

Congratulations to the Burke Brain Bee winners! Once again, we welcomed high school students with a passion for neuroscience for a competition featuring rounds of challenging questions to evaluate students' knowledge of the brain and nervous system. Prizes were awarded to the top three finalists:

- 1st place winner: Kevin O'Donnell from John Jay High School, Cross River. He will compete in the USA Brain Bee next month.
- 2nd place winner: Yi Sun from Rye High School
- 3rd place winner: Sophie Inana from John Jay High School, Cross River

Burke is proud to support the next generation of neuroscience leaders!
