Burke Bridges recently hosted a wonderful holiday luncheon to celebrate the season.

A huge thanks to the organization's incredible leaders, Peg Cataldo, Mary Ann Agro, Lucy Tocci, and Laura Amadio. Together, Peg, Lucy, and Laura have each devoted over 20 years to raising funds, volunteering, and uplifting Burke’s mission. Their decades of service reflect thousands of hours of commitment and countless acts of kindness that have touched patients, families, and staff alike.

Since 1980, Burke Bridges has donated over $475,000 to Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, a reflection of belief and trust in our mission and a spirit of generosity that strengthens our community.

We sat down with Sandra Alexandrou, PT, MBA, Vice President of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services at Burke Rehabilitation, to explore how she is driving innovation and excellence across Burke’s inpatient programs.

From launching New York’s first on-site hemodialysis program in a free-standing rehab hospital to integrating robotic-assisted gait training, Neurologic Music Therapy, and Adaptive Sports & Therapeutic Recreation programs, Sandra and her team are redefining what’s possible in patient recovery and rehabilitation.

November was a busy month at Burke, filled with meaningful activities and celebrations that brought our community together.

For National Nurse Practitioners Week, Burke proudly held a luncheon to honor our dedicated team, including celebrating 11 outstanding Nurse Practitioners whose commitment to exceptional care continues to make a lasting impact.

Our annual Multicultural Day served as a vibrant celebration of diverse cultures, showcasing 14 countries with traditional foods and music, with over 200 people in attendance.

The festive spirit continued as the Crescendo Chorus, a specialized singing group for patients with Parkinson’s disease that uses music and singing exercises to support speech and language, gathered to perform holiday songs and welcomed family members, caregivers, and Burke staff to join in the joy.

Stay tuned for the events planned for December!
