Heartsong

Heartsong Serving Children and Families in Westchester, New York Volunteers work with the children and are an integral part of the Heartsong program.

Heartsong is nationally recognized for its program that utilizes the powerful tools of music therapy and art therapy enabling children with special needs to express themselves, regardless of their verbal and motoric capacity. This is accomplished by using music and art in its many forms and styles to nurture a child's emotional, physical, sensory and cognitive development. Each child is assessed individually and placed in a music and/or art therapy group where they enjoy ensemble playing and group interaction. Beneficial outcomes include increased self-esteem and self-confidence, development of social skills, enhanced communication skills, increased attention span, and enhanced motor skills.

Heartsong is proud to serve individuals with Developmental Disabilities, then, now and always. Our story started in 1992 when Gayle and Tom Cratty, witnessed the transformative power of music therapy firsthand with their daughter Jennifer. Inspired by her progress, they created Heartsong to make these therapies accessible to all families in the community. What’s your story?
