Whether this is your first or your fifth, each postpartum experience comes with its own unique set of challenges.

Between volatile hormones, sleep deprivation, and constant care for a tiny human (along with a million other changes) you may be feeling like you have lost yourself somewhere along the way.

And throw in a pandemic? Typical supports and resources have been limited or non-existent over the last few years. Instead of a village, many moms have had to take on the responsibility of raising a child alone.

The numbers don’t lie, recent research is indicating that as many as 1 in 3 women have experienced postpartum depression during the pandemic (1,2,3). Rates of anxiety, stress, and loneliness have also significantly increased for perinatal women (1,2,3,4,5).

At Hudson Therapy, we are excited to announce our Thriving Mamas Support Group! This is an online therapeutic support group that will meet weekly for six weeks. We will provide space for you to share your story, support one another, and gain tools to thrive. If this sounds like something you’re looking for, we would LOVE to hear from you!

𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐔𝐩 𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞⁣

Over the last few years, the concept of focusing on gratitude has become more popular. And for good reason, as gratitude has been strongly associated with overall well-being (Wood et al., 2009). ⁣

While there is no wrong way to practice gratitude, there are some practical tips to help us hone in on the things we are gratifying for in our lives. ⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞:⁣

- Keep a daily gratitude journal to write down a few key things that you are grateful for each day. ⁣
- In reflecting on things you are grateful for, quality is better than quantity. Choose just a couple of gratitudes and be as descriptive as you can be. ⁣
- If you are having a difficult time identifying things you are grateful for, consider things that you have that can easily be forgotten or taken for granted (e.g. a home, health, the sun shining outside, etc.). ⁣

Making a daily practice of gratitude journaling can help you to be more aware of the positive people, things, and events in our lives rather than being overwhelmed by the negatives.
