This 78 year old client received a Thai massage from me recently.

There are no age limits or body limits to receiving bodywork- even Thai massage.

Thai massage is a traditional healing modality that is done on the floor.
It concentrates on lengthening and stretching the soft tissue of the body.
It works to bring mobility to each joint of the body and it’s done fully clothed so me, as the practitioner, can fully and more ease fully asses the mobility of the body.

Here in the West, they call it “lazy man’s yoga”. 😆

You are completely limp and relaxed while your body is manipulated.
You are able to receive while perceiving where you are holding, or where there is restriction.

It’s truly a magical offering. ✨

Soon we will be able to go to the store and buy at home hormone tests.

But for now, asking your Doc for one.

Especially we as women should know where our hormone levels are (estrogen, progesterone, FSH, testosterone/DHEA, & thyroid hormone levels).

Because if our hormones are out of wack- then our mood, energy, productivity, sleep, reproductive health, and much much more will be out of wack.

It’s also great insight if you’re guessing where you are as far as menopause, peri menopause & post menopause.

There are options for day tests, where you’d do saliva testing throughout the day to see how your hormones are fluctuating throughout the day.
Or you can do entire 30-day saliva tests to see how you flux and flow through an entire month.

Why wouldn’t you want to know this information?
Why isn’t this something that we can test for whenever we freely want?
Why is this information not normalized and more accessible?
Why? Why? Why?

Getting my hormones tested last year was a game changer.
Go ask to get yours tested for greater knowledge and understanding of your own vessel! 🙌

Y’all-
It’s not even the end of August yet and I’m already booking into October!
I get so many new client inquiries who are wanting same day/ same week appointments.
As a therapist-
If you can get in with someone on the same day/ same week- then you’re getting what you’re paying for.
Meaning➡️
Other therapists are booked out for reason, and other therapists are not booked out for a reason.
Another thought on this is:
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOURE BROKEN TO HELP YOURSELF!

Meaning➡️
Plan ahead and set yourself up for success.
You can always reschedule if you don’t feel like you need the appointment, (but when does that actually happen 😆🙆🏻‍♀️).
So do your future self a favor and book an appointment of self-love and self-care! 🙌

This particular Mullein plant has probably grown 2 feet since this picture was taken just shy of two months ago, believe it or not.

To quote the book ‘Wild Remedies’ by Rosalee De La Foret & Emily Han;

“Every part of Mullein has medicinal virtues. The leaves and flowers are used to soften and soothe, while the roots have a more warming and drying energy. The word ‘mullein’ is related to the French ‘molle’, meaning “soft.”
It has been used as medicine for thousands of years. Greek physician Dioscorides was recommending it for coughs more than 2,000 years ago!”

I love this tall, strong and vital plant.
Often found in disturbed soils, you may also find woodpeckers moving up and down the stalk, foraging insects found on the plant. ☺️

She’s so healing and grows so willingly for us.

I know it’s hard to think about drinking our herbal teas in this hot weather. 🥵

But my remedy to make sure I’m getting in the nutrients my body needs through herbal teas is do a morning steep- let it sit- and drink at room temperature in the evenings to help me wind down.

A friend and I were recently talking about how the heat can exacerbate things;
Temperature
Mood
Energy
Patience
etc.

Then I remembered my old favorite cooling trick! 🧊

Pluck off a few fresh mint leaves and throw em’ in your water bottle.
Mint literally has a cooling effect on the body.
And as you sip the water, the aroma and the flavor of the mint can be a sweet reminder for you to chillllll, be easy. ✌️

I had another great session with a client this morning.

This client came to me about 3 months ago and they were about ready to go in for back surgery.

After just one appointment with me, the client said the pain was a 1 on a scale of 1-10, (1 being the lowest amount of pain).

After two sessions, the first being hands on bodywork and the second being an interactive mobility session- the client has been pain free.
🙌

It’s not me that has created that success, but the diligence and discipline of this client.

It takes constant awareness and persistent work to get where you want to be.

The doctors told this client last year “absolutely no bike riding for at least a year”.
The client just returned from a 4-day bike trip with friends and had no pain and said “it was even a positive experience nonetheless!”.

And it’s because they did the exercises day and night, even on their trip.

Do the work folks.
Reap the benefits.
I absolutely love what I do, because I absolutely am I’m awe of the power of the mind & body!

The body only has so much Compassion.

Think about it-
Over all the years and course of your lifetime, think about all the activities you’ve asked it to perform.

INCLUDING all the misconduct, mistreatment and abuse.
Every ounce of alcohol, every late night, junk food binges, sweet treats, air pollution, no rest days, the list could go on and on.

But let’s think on an even more subtle level;
Bad posture, poor hydration, not exercising or doing mobility work, staring at a computer, scrolling on your phone, hip hiking to hold the baby…
Again the list could go on and on.
⬇️

I have clients that come in with pain and they say to me,
“I don’t know HOW I got here!”
Then as we continue to talk I hear,
“We’ll I’ve known my posture has gotten progressively worse, and I had that old injury I never rehabbed, but I didn’t think that would bring me HERE!”

Me: 😏 I’m glad I’m not the one breaking the news, because it seems like your body already has.

The body is SO capable!!
HOWEVER, if we perpetually ignore it, or are constantly doing things that DO NOT serve it.
It’s GOING to bite you in the ass.
🤷🏻‍♀️
Sorry, not sorry.
That is just the way it is.

And thank goodness! 👏
The body is smart and if we listen when it talks, we can learn SO MUCH. 👏

It feels to me that this Full Moon is about sitting with the fruits of your work.

But I’m not talking about your successes.
I’m talking about what you are currently striving for.

Your conviction towards a vision,
Your drive and motivation is the fruit of which you are receiving.

It’s not the end goal that defines how far you are.
It’s how far you are willing to go for what serves your Soul.

As I sat this morning I’m not only reminded of stillness and breath-
But also to find the sensation of that space between what is perceived as ‘myself’, and the thoughts that occur.

I often will find sitting meditation focusing on the breath or body awareness.

However this practice of finding the space between the perceiver and the thought, empowers me to be more spacious.

More spacious in my actual thought process,
in my attachment to the thoughts,
in reaction,
in identification,
in manifestation.

It’s truly a Superpower that is easily overlooked, but when done with true diligence can bring many fruits to your journey.
