Is your baby a ‘happy sitter?’ 🐒

This term is used to describe a baby, approximately 6-10 months old, who sits very well on their own but will just not try to move out of sitting.

💫💫 As pediatric therapists, we LOVE to see a baby transitioning in and out of positions. Once a baby has STABILITY in a position, we work on gaining MOBILITY!

As I have noted before, volitionally moving through space is SUCH a great skill for babies, particularly as it leads to cognitive gains. Move, baby, move! 🙌🏼

In this video, I demonstrate and describe how I am helping Babe move from the seated position to laying on her tummy through side sit. You’ll see that I am doing the majority of the work, as this skilled babe is not quite 6 months old. Over time, as you practice this skill, Babe will start to do a greater portion of the work while you do less— until they are doing it independently!

Keep watching for a fun at the end!!

Follow for more baby and child development goodness! And share with your friend whose little monkey loves to sit!!

✨As February comes to a close, we continue to celebrate the beauty, brilliance, creativity, resilience, and leadership of the Black community.

Black history highlights decades (generations!) of strength 💪🏾 and progress— all of which is worth honoring. At the same time, we recognize that the work toward equity and opportunity continues.

💫💫 At Little Light, we are lifelong learners and acknowledge that there is much continued learning to do. We are committed to choosing to listen well, learn often, support intentionally, and show up consistently.
