When children can’t live safely with their parents, placing them with relatives or close relations can make all the difference.

-Minimize trauma by keeping kids connected to familiar people, places, and routines
-Improve well-being with fewer placement disruptions and stronger emotional support
-Increase permanency through guardianship, custody, or adoption by family

When foster parents and come together, healing flourishes.💜

When Connie and Richard’s grandsons entered foster care, Aliza opened her heart and home to the boys, providing love and stability for them while their family worked to set up kinship care options.

Aliza worked closely with the family, providing updates and engaging the kids in hobbies, special holiday memories, and puppy snuggles from Aliza's dog, Maddie. When the boys were ready to return to family in kinship placements, it was never a goodbye – it was a see you soon.

Aliza, Connie, and Richard’s journey shows how love, teamwork, and support from The Buckeye Ranch can help children stay connected to family, even through hard times.

As a Mental Health Technician, you'll:

✅ Help youth ages 9-17 develop age-appropriate behaviors and interpersonal skills

✅Facilitate compassionate conflict resolution

✅Supervise individual and group activities for youth in treatment

✅Maintain a safe and positive healing environment

✅Provide appropriate, culturally-responsive, and trauma-informed interventions

This summer, we mourn the loss of one of our most cherished founders, Rosemary Lewis, who passed away on July 26, 2025, at the remarkable age of 103.

Rosie was a visionary. In 1961, she and a group of dedicated women laid the foundation for what began as The Buckeye Boys Ranch—starting with just ten young men. Today, thanks to their pioneering spirit, The Buckeye Ranch serves thousands of youth across central Ohio, helping them heal, grow, and thrive.

Her legacy lives on in every life touched by The Buckeye Ranch. We are forever grateful for her heart, her vision, and her unwavering dedication to our mission.

This fall, we’re opening the doors to our brand new 57,000 sq./ft. Hope Treatment Center, a first-of-its-kind Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) in Ohio! 🏡 As we prepare to welcome youth into this healing space, we urgently need your help to make it comfortable.

Today, on Grief Awareness Day, we pause to recognize the silent struggles, the unspoken pain, and the strength it takes to carry on after loss. Grief is not a linear path, it’s a deeply personal journey that looks different for everyone.

Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a dream, or a part of yourself, your feelings are valid. There is no “right” way to grieve, and no timeline for healing.

If you’re grieving today, know this:

-You are not alone.
-Your pain is real.
-Healing is possible, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

If grief isn't something you are carrying today, know there may be others around you that silently are. Let's remember to be gentle with one another and act with kindness.
