I about died laughing. A True Story .... Carnation Milk- When opening a can of carnation evaporated milk for your recipes just smile and think of this:

A little old lady from North Carolina had worked in and around her family’s dairy farm since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation…

So when canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores, she read an advertisement offering $5000 for the best slogan/rhyme beginning with “Carnation milk is best of all ....”

She said to herself “ I know all about milking cows and dairy farms… I can do this!”

She sent in her entry, and about a week later, a black limo drove up in front of her house…

A man got out and said, “Carnation LOVED your entry so much, we are here to award you $1000, even though we WILL NOT Be able to use it...

Here is her entry
😂😂😂
Carnation Milk
Is best of all, No t**s to pull ,
No hay to haul,
No buckets to wash,
No s**t to pitch ,
Just poke a hole
In the Son-********

We all know there is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. But some things on the outside of your horse are good also for the inside of the horse himself!

Your horse’s whiskers, for example, are tactile hairs that play an important part in your equine friend’s sensory awareness system. Just to mention one thing, they help your horse gather information about their surroundings in the blind spot existing from their eye level to ground below the nose and out to about six feet—so the animal can sense things like the grass he grazes on and the hand that strokes his muzzle.

If you’d like to read more about how your horse sees the world, visit Equus Magazine’s website at https://equusmagazine.com/behavior/eye-eye-31022/

Great practical information courtesy of the horse doctors at Barrow Veterinary Service:

NORMAL: NOT JUST A SETTING ON THE DRYER!
If your horse seems a little "off," do you know what his "normal" is? One of the best ways you can determine if your horse is ill is to know his normal vitals—temperature, breaths per minute, heart rate, and capillary refill time. If they are outside the normal range, a call to your equine veterinarian is definitely warranted! Any refusal to eat a meal or to get up from a recumbent position is also a clue that you and your equine friend need assistance.

Ensuring that your horse is consuming a proper diet is one of the components to managing pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID), formerly known as equine Cushing's disease. While every horse's dietary needs are different, testing your hay and feeding a diet low in NSCs can help maintain normal insulin levels.

VECTOR CONTROL AROUND HORSES: WHY IT MATTERS

’Tis bug season! Besides being very irritating, it's important to remember that some of these insects can spread infection and disease to your horse (and, in some cases, to you as well). Therefore, a smart strategy is to control the problem before it gets out of hand and minimize populations from the beginning.

The attached infographic contains some suggestions to get you started. Please keep in mind that there are many variations of these suggested programs that will still meet the same goals and follow the same principles.

If you’re interested in reading more about external parasites and vector control, comprehensive guidelines are available on our website at https://aaep.org/guidelines/external-parasite-and-vector-control-guidelines. As always, reach out to your veterinarian for recommendations suitable for your horse’s specific situation!
