Building and maintaining muscle helps:
• support your metabolism
• improve how your body uses energy
• protect muscle while losing fat
• improve body composition (even if the scale doesn’t change much)

When meals are light on protein, hunger gets loud, and it’s easy to snack your way through the day.

Protein + fiber supports steadier appetite and energy, and it helps protect muscle while you’re working on healthy weight goals.

Turkey Taco Lettuce Bowls (or Rice Bowls). Makes 4 servings
Ingredients:
• 1 lb ground turkey (or chicken/beef)
• 1 bell pepper + 1 onion (diced)
• 1 can black beans (rinsed)
• Taco seasoning (store-bought or DIY: cumin, chili powder, garlic, paprika)
• Romaine or shredded lettuce (or cooked rice/quinoa)
• Toppings: Greek yogurt (instead of sour cream), salsa, avocado, lime, cilantro

How to make:
1. Brown meat with onion + pepper. Add seasoning.
2. Stir in black beans to warm through.

Have you ever worked hard for a week… ate better, moved more… and the scale barely changes (or goes up)? It’s so discouraging.

The scale only shows total body weight, not what your body is made of. And your weight can fluctuate from:
• water retention (sleep, stress, salty meals)
• digestion (what’s still in your system)
• hormone shifts
• muscle repair after workouts

You can be losing fat and building/retaining muscle while the scale stays stubborn.

Sometimes, feelings of thirst may be mistaken for hunger. If you know you consumed an adequate amount of calories and are still not feeling satiated, consider drinking a cup of water.

The human body is composed of up to 60% water, so staying adequately hydrated may take away the confusion surrounding actual hunger versus thirst.
