Friends of Hudspeth Center Organization

The Friends of Hudspeth Center is an organization comprised of parents and friends of the clients enrolled in the institution and community programs of Hudspeth Regional Center. This organization represents consumers of services provided through Hudspeth Regional Center, under the direction of the Bureau of Mental Retardation, Department of Mental Health in the state of Mississippi. The Friends of Hudspeth Center association was organized and held its first meeting 1984. The purpose of the association:

a) To promote public interest in the Hudspeth Center located in Whitfield, Mississippi
b) To inform families of consumers of Hudspeth Center of the programs and activities at Hudspeth Center
c) To advise and aid parents of consumers of Hudspeth Center in the solution of their problems and to coordinate their efforts and activities
d) To promote understanding of mental retardation and the needs of the mentally retarded
e) To encourage volunteer support for Hudspeth Center from civic groups, churches and individuals in the twenty-two counties served by the center
f) To raise funds for projects at Hudspeth Center which will improve the quality of life for the residents
