Thank you to all the brave souls who have been fighting tirelessly since the news of a possible elimination of Community Based Adult Services ( ) broke out. It is an incredible example of how much we can achieve if we combine our skills, minds and hearts. Our seniors need our assistance now more than anytime before. Moreover, they deserve the best care for all the work they put in when it was their turn!

Special thank you to the California Association for Adult Day Services for the extraordinary effort and dedication!

Also, thank you to our State leaders and the office of California Governor Gavin Newsom for showing leadership and standing behind our most vulnerable communities. Finding a solution was far from being easy!

Thank you ALL for fighting for our seniors and disabled, for their families, for all the caregivers and for in general!

Gov. Gavin Newsom had suggested deep cuts to education and health care programs in his most recent budget proposal. Legislative leaders say the agreement “protects core services,” though they did not provide spending details.

YOU can help our seniors and people with disabilities by urging the Governor Gavin Newsom NOT to eliminate life-saving programs such as ADHC and MSSR from CA's 2021 budget. The full year cost of the programs for the State is around $250M and serves around 37,000 seniors and people with disabilities. While the State of California found itself in a dire economic situation with an estimated budget deficit of $54B, $250M is a very small amount compared to the value it brings.

Please text California Association for Adult Day Services (CAADS) to 52886. This will cause a quick message asking if it is ok to send u a quick link. By entering your info it automatically sends notification to the governor and our other State Reps of your support of ADHC and providing support for CA frail adults. Thanks for your support ❤️❤️

Please ask friends and family to send as well!

Please email your California State Representative and let them know that you object to the elimination of Community Based Adult Services that is currently proposed in the California State Budget. Please let me know if you don't know how to contact your representative. Please see below for some facts on how this is a vital service in our State.

Community Based Adult Services (CBAS) is an essential health program that protects the very people who are most at risk from COVID-19 because of their age and underlying health conditions while supporting their ability to remain in their homes in their community and with their family.

About 92% of people who have died of COVID-19 in L.A. county had underlying health conditions; while many who died were in nursing homes. CBAS centers prevent premature admission to nursing home; it is more cost effective, it allows more independence and continuity of care.

In eight weeks of shelter-at-home, nurses, social workers and other CBAS health care team members have sprung into action to meet the emergency needs of older adults with chronic conditions:
Provided 972,000 contacts to meet the needs of these 36,000 vulnerable seniors and 73,000 caregivers, many of whom are elderly and disabled. Conducted more than 324,000 COVID-19 screenings.

California Governor Newsom urged Californians to “keep staying home…” and in his April 3rd daily briefing called on CBAS to protect our most vulnerable and fragile population from the effects of COVID-19.

Center teams, participants and families rapidly responded.
CBAS transformed overnight to keep people safe in their homes and connected to vital CBAS health and social services.

As the Governor recognized, CBAS is an essential Medi-Cal service. There are no services to replace CBAS. Once eliminated it will not recover.

Imagine having to put your loved one in a nursing home because you are without help while caregiving during this pandemic.
Over one-third of the COVID-19 deaths in California have been residents of nursing homes.

CBAS teams are saving lives by keeping people out of overwhelmed nursing homes while supporting their mental and physical health during this COVID-19 emergency.

Eliminating CBAS affects ALL generations. As the economy opens up families returning to work need CBAS to keep their loved ones safe
