In addition to general optometry and contact lenses, the Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of visual development disorders, learning and sports related vision problems, perceptual-motor difficulties, and remediation through vision therapy.

Dr. Dennis Spiro is the clinical director of the Whittier Vision Center. In addition to general optometric care, glasses, and contact lenses, Dr. Spiro prescribes vision therapy. Vision therapy is a set of clinical activities designed to help children and adults with learning- related vision problems (e.g., problems with tracking, focusing, eye aiming, visual- perceptual motor, visual memory, dyslexia), eye turns (strabismus) and lazy eye (amblyopia), Vision therapy is also used to help overcome vision problems associated with developmental conditions (e.g., autism, ADD, cerebral palsy) and brain injury or TBIs.
