These past few weeks Posada At Whittier has been working on a powerfully unique, new program . . . "The Alive Inside Project: Adopt A Soul". Bridging a gap between the generations by bringing together the young and old through human compassion, connection and empathy.
Our Community Relations Director originally test piloted The Alive Inside Project in various cities throughout the US years ago (originally the project was a face-to-face project). Due to COVID, we had to pause and rethink how to do "Alive Inside" with the reality of "human connection barriers".
We are deeply grateful to Mrs. Pradhan and her Dexter Middle School Advanced Chorus Students, for taking on the challenge of adopting our residents who are dementia diagnosed to help minimize feelings of loneliness and isolation, while also re-awakening memories through the power of music! These students gained amazing insight to the life of an elder who is living with Dementia, through specialized training conducted by our Community Relations Director, Daniel Bauer! After two weeks of training complete, only ONE missing piece was needed to bring The Alive Inside Adopt A Soul project to life. . . TECHNOLOGY!
We are incredibly grateful to Carol Crosby President of for introducing us to Rudy Hernandez, President of Whittier Community Foundation and Chris Gibbons, VP of the Menasha Corporation for coming together to help fund and donate to our community five amazing tablets that are now at the core of keeping our Adopt A Soul initiative Alive! Thank you for being such rays of sunshine in our mutual quest to do kindness better.
These photos are from the launch of our program!! We will be periodically posting updates on how this very unique project is progressing! Together we are making a difference in the lives of those who choose to call our Posada Community home!!
