Whittier Counseling Center continues to show up for our community 💙
This month, our team connected with students and families at two amazing outreach events~ the USEC Resource Fair(organized by Sierra Vista High School, Frontier High School, and Whittier Adult School), where Juliana (Mental Health Services Coordinator) and Gerardo (Graduate-Level Intern) represented WCC, and the Lights On Afterschool Celebration at Pioneer High School, where Juliana joined Cassandra (Graduate-Level Intern) to share resources and promote mental wellness.
We’re proud to support our local schools, raise mental health awareness, and remind youth and families that help is always within reach. 💬✨

¡El Centro de Consejería de Whittier sigue presente en nuestra comunidad! 💙
Este mes, nuestro equipo se conectó con estudiantes y familias en dos increíbles eventos comunitarios: la Feria de Recursos USEC (organizada por Sierra Vista High School, Frontier High School y Whittier Adult School), donde Juliana (Coordinadora de Servicios de Salud Mental) y Gerardo (Practicante de nivel de posgrado) representaron al WCC; y la Celebración Lights On Afterschool en Pioneer High School, donde Juliana estuvo acompañada de Cassandra (Practicante de nivel de posgrado) para compartir recursos y promover el bienestar mental.
Nos enorgullece apoyar a nuestras escuelas locales, fomentar la conciencia sobre la salud mental y recordarles a jóvenes y familias que la ayuda siempre está al alcance. 💬✨

This achievement reflects our team’s dedication to quality, compliance, and community care. ✨

Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach that helps people manage emotional distress during crises like natural disasters, terrorism, or mass emergencies. It’s often the first step in mental health response during emergencies, used by first responders, clinicians, and community helpers. Our Agency Director, Dr. Luis Orozco, recently led an 8-hour Psychological First Aid certification training for the staff at the YMCA of Whittier.

Nuestro Director de la Agencia, el Dr. Luis Orozco, recientemente dirigió una capacitación de 8 horas para la certificación en Primeros Auxilios Psicológicos (PFA) para el personal del YMCA de Whittier. 
Los Primeros Auxilios Psicológicos, o PFA, son un enfoque basado en la evidencia que ayuda a las personas a manejar el malestar emocional durante crisis como desastres naturales, actos de terrorismo o emergencias masivas. 
El Dr. Orozco compartió lo gratificante que fue ver a los miembros de la comunidad tan comprometidos en aprender estas habilidades que salvan vidas, preparándolos para responder con cuidado, confianza y compasión cuando más se necesita.
