United Regional’s Flag Raising Ceremony will take place Friday, April 3 at 10 a.m. at the Bridwell Tower flagpole on the United Regional campus. This special gathering marks the beginning of National Donate Life Month.

This year’s Donate Life theme uses trees to symbolize life, connection, and the powerful way donation unites donors, recipients, and their families. Like a tree that grows for generations, the gift of donation creates a lasting legacy of hope and life. United Regional is pleased to share continued progress on the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at United Regional Health Care System. The project remains on schedule and is moving steadily toward key milestones.

Phase 1 of the NICU project has been completed, including:
Completion of the blood gas lab
Installation and completion of the medical gas valves
Completion of the full‑term nursery and exam room
Completion of one of two isolation rooms with negative air monitoring

Phase 2 is now underway, with progress in the following areas:
Demolition and construction to prepare space for two of eight patient rooms and general support areas
Initial work has started on the second isolation room, the final of the two isolation rooms planned for the unit.

Each phase of this project reflects our commitment to providing a safe, comfortable environment for our tiniest patients and the families who depend on us. United Regional is proud to share our upcoming Generation United event on Sunday, April 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bill Bartley YMCA, 5001 Bartley Drive at the Fain Sports Complex.

This free community event brings high school seniors and the older adults who inspire them together to learn simple ways to stay active, prevent falls, and support the well‑being of aging loved ones. Teens will also hear practical guidance on how regular check‑ins can help keep seniors safe. Free health screenings — including blood pressure checks, fingerstick blood sugars, and a wellness screening blood panel — will be available.

Scholarships of $1,000, $750, and $500 will be awarded to high school seniors, and guests will have the chance to win door prizes such as gift cards and YMCA memberships.
