“You don’t know the DNA of Hospice of Wichita Falls until you see 3 dairy farmer sons standing around holding the hand of their 94 year old mother listening to the nurse singing Amazing Grace”

Thank you to Jackie Hoegger for telling her Hospice of Wichita Falls story to our Medical Advisory Board.

A Gown With a Story

A woman arrived carrying a tote that holds more than fabric. Inside this tote are gowns and clothes that once belonged to someone deeply loved.

Letting go of those belongings can feel like letting go of a piece of their story. A reminder to a daughter of the gown her mother wore on her last birthday, and the smile she wore with it. Now, deciding to donate it feels like placing a bookmark in a chapter she never wanted to end.

She pauses, tears in her eyes, and whispers, “She’d want someone else to have this.”

On the other side of that gift is a patient who no longer feels like a collection of diagnoses and medical charts. A patient who is tired of the stark, plain hospital gowns that make everyone feel the same. When caregivers offer them a donated gown, soft and chosen with care, a small spark of dignity returns. They catch their reflection and see a person again, wrapped in warmth and personality.

As one daughter courageously lets go, another woman graciously receives the gift of hope.

Each gown, each blanket, each carefully folded donation carries a story from one life that continues to care for another. And in that continuation lies something profoundly human. Something healing.

It is the reminder that even in letting go, we can still give. And through giving, we ensure that the love sewn into those threads keeps warming the world.

We thank you for thinking of us during your grief journey, and we hope you know that each gift the community sends to us is precious. Your support makes stories like this one a reality. 💜

It is truly an honor to serve this community.

We're looking for gently-used or like-new nightgowns or men's shirts to provide to patients in our inpatient care center!

We provide clothing to our patients instead of hospital gowns to help make them feel at home during their stay. We're also accepting fragrant soaps, lotions, and sprays to use when bathing patients.

You can bring any donations to the ICC at 4400 Cypress Avenue or drop them off at our main admin building at 4909 Johnson Road. Thank you! 💜
