The Lunch Bunch is at it again! This month we're celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a visit to Los Cocos in Andover. The food and the service were superb!

It's another stop in our Hispanic Heritage Month adventure, and Lead Housekeeper, Lorena, took us on a "Bebidas Experience"! Demonstrating how to make FIVE different kinds of traditional Mexican drinks, residents savored hibiscus agua fresco, Mexican hot chocolate, cafe de olla, pineapple agua fresco, and rich, creamy horchata! Salud!

On today's episode of Arrow Nicely News, we're checking out National Assisted Living Week celebrations from around Arrow communities!

National Assisted Living Week was established by the National Center for Assisted Living in 1995. It is an annual observance dedicated to recognizing the important role of assisted living communities in providing care and services to elderly and disabled individuals.

This year’s theme was “Ageless Adventure,” reminding everyone that the journey never stops, and that escapades, quests, and boundless fun have no age limit.

To celebrate, each department in Arrow communities took a day of the week and planned something special for staff and residents to enjoy! And we are going to be seeing just a taste of each celebration, so be sure to check out your local community's page to see even more delightful pictures!

September brings the opportunity for another Story Corner, reading to the littles at Andover Public Library, and more smiles than we can handle! Rushwood resident, "Auntie Sue," helped us celebrate another chapter of Hispanic Heritage Month by reading "Isabel And Her Colores Go To School"! Preschoolers had so much fun saying their colors in Spanish!

What an amazing day to create! Acclaimed Wichita artist, Charles Baughman, led residents through a landscape watercolor painting class (while his therapy dog, Scout, supervised!). Each artist left with their own treasure!

Hispanic Heritage Month starts TODAY, and Rushwood residents are brushing up on their Spanish vocabulary with Resident Services Director and medical translator, Rochelle Collette! We believe sharing our languages and culture is a beautiful step towards valuing and understanding one another! Diversity makes the world beautiful!

On this final day of National Assisted Living Week, Resident Services brought the Ageless Adventures to residents through virtual reality! Former pilots flew a supersonic jet. World travelers sat in a ceremonial dance circle with a Maasai tribe. Adventurors swam with dolphins and dived in the Great Barrier Reef! F1 race cars drove us at epic speeds, and the extra brave para-sailed, jumping off the safe ground and flying over mountain ranges! You're never too old for an adventure! If you can't get to the adventure, we'll bring the adventure to you
