In honor of the legacy of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, our Acts of Service Team engages in meaningful service to others each month. This week we were honored to host the moms from Harbour House and St Anthony's shelters for a morning of TLC. Rushwood Ambassadors helped make bracelets, rocked babies and read books while cosmetology students from Sami Halaseh Institute gave free manicures and arm massages. Life has it's struggles, but for this morning we were just a bunch of gals finding joy. (Out of respect to our friends at the shelters, faces have been omitted in photos.)

Cheers to good food, good friends and the great Rushwood family, as we celebrated a Mexican Cantina Candlelight Dinner! The food was so delicious, we didn't even mind our cremation mustaches!

Garlic, onions, chorizo, diced pork, pinto beans, bell peppers, diced tomatoes, poblano peppers in a smokey & tangy tomato broth.
Chicken Al Pastor Torta
Marinated chicken thighs grilled and sliced on a soft roll with refried beans, pineapple avocado salsa with cilantro lime potato wedges, brûlée pineapple, and ranchero sauce
Pan Fried Birria Tacos
Marinated brisket braised for 12 hours mixed with fresh chopped onions, cilantro & cheese fried in clarified butter served with poblano butter rice with fried corn ribs
Dessert
Horchata Custard w/Dulce de Leche and whipped cream

Today, we celebrated the incredible women on our leadership team in honor of Women’s History Month. Their dedication, strength, and commitment make a meaningful impact every day. We were grateful to treat them to a special lunch as a small token of our appreciation. We are truly thankful for each of these remarkable women and the leadership they bring to our community.

Join Elizabeth Thompson Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional (CMDCP), Positive Approach to Car Trainer (PAC), Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) and Charlie Johnson as they chat about dementia-related topics, including personal experiences, with the goal of helping family members and friends learn more about how to navigate the dementia journey. This podcast will offer support, information, and a sense of community to those affected by memory-related conditions, helping them navigate their journey with greater understanding.

Happy St Patrick's Day, from our Rushwood family! To start the celebration, Resident Services Assistant, Emilie, took us on a fun armchair travel through Ireland! The afternoon party kicked off with energetic Irish fiddle music from Rushwood resident, Mary Beth Williams and her friend Helen. Next, Corry Academy award winning Irish dancers took the stage and our smiles couldn't have gotten any bigger! With a corned beef slider in one hand, and a Guiness or a Iced Irish Coffee Shot in the other, we wish you all the joy this day can give! Slainte!!
