Hi there! Introduction time again! My name is Brianna Johnson, and I am a wife, mother, and speech pathologist. I love Jesus, my family, my church, and my community. I praise God for gifting me with the skills and ability to serve children with speech and language disorders and to love the families who choose me as their child’s therapist.
I studied speech pathology at Baylor University and have 7 years of experience diagnosing and treating reading/literacy disorders, speech disorders, and language delays/disorders. I truly love my job and see it as a calling to pour out God’s love on my community. Helping children reach their communication and reading/writing goals is the most rewarding thing (right behind being a wife and mama).
If you are looking for a speech therapist who will work alongside you to help your child flourish, please reach out to me! I would love to get you scheduled today.

Did you know that 1 in 5 children in the U.S. have learning and attention disorders such as dyslexia and ADHD (NCLD, 2017)? It’s true! Dyslexia is quite common with 15-20% of the population having a reading disorder. However, it often goes misdiagnosed or even undiagnosed. The result? Inadequate accommodations, low self-esteem, difficulties in the classroom, and a lack of appropriate intervention.
Typically, children are not assessed for dyslexia in schools until 3rd grade! However, we can actually accurately assess and diagnose dyslexia as early as Kindergarten. This is one of the benefits of private therapy - you do not have to wait! Early intervention is KEY to increasing your child’s chances of success. Children who get adequate phonological awareness training in those younger grades typically show significantly improved success in later grades.
So what are some warning signs?
- Difficulty naming letters/recognizing letter sounds
- Difficulty decoding single words
- Language delay and/or fine motor delay in preschool
- ADHD
- Difficulty telling or retelling a story in the correct sequence
- Letter reversals, word reversals
- Difficulty recalling information or remembering facts
- Difficulty planning
- Difficulty blending sounds to form words
If you are concerned that your child may exhibit signs of dyslexia, please reach out! I would love to work with your family to make a plan for success.

Happy thanksgiving from my family to yours. 🦃
What are you thankful for this holiday season? It’s been a big year over here with many changes, losses, and growth. I’m thankful for our health, our home, our family, our friends new and old, and especially a God who walks with us through the joy and the pain.
Hold your loved ones close this holiday season. You never know when it might be the last. ❤️

Play is a vital part of a child’s development. Play is not separate from learning or a break for ***, but it is rather the primary occupation of young children. During play, children gain fine and gross motor skills, imagination, thinking skills, representational thinking, and social communication skills. Also, play is just downright FUN!
While many know the importance of play, the social aspect is often overlooked.
So why are social play skills so important? Because humans are social beings! God created us to be in community with one another, and through play children learn how to listen to, pay attention to, and work together with others. Not to mPlaying with others also allows children to develop self-regulation, self-control, turn-taking, awareness of others feelings, imagination, retelling/reinacting of past events, and so much more! These skills will continue with them as they begin communicating more and more during and outside of play.
Find opportunities to allow and encourage play with your children! If you have any concerns that your child is not exhibiting these age appropriate social play skills, reach out to me! I would love to chat or get you scheduled for an evaluation.

Did you know? Before imitating words, babies imitate actions facial expressions, and environmental noises! These are important skills that create the foundation for speech and language acquisition as your child grows.

Some ways to engage your child in these prelinguistic skills include playing peekaboo, making faces in the mirror, playing pat-a-cake, clapping, waving, making animal noises, playing cars (vroom, beep beep, etc), and so much more!

Introduction time! 🌻

Hi, I’m Brianna Johnson, owner and Speech-Language Pathologist. I was born and raised in Waco Texas and attended Baylor University where I met my husband, Sam. We have two beautiful little girls and recently relocated our family to Kansas!
🌻
I have always been passionate about helping children reach their goals as well as equipping and empowering parents in supporting their children along the way. As a speech therapist, I am able to come alongside families as we work together to overcome communication hurdles through personalized and compassionate care.
🌻
I am an experienced therapist with a specific passion for treating language delays, articulation disorders, early literacy, and written language disorders such as dyslexia. I love to watch kids ~flourish~ as they gain confidence in their verbal and written communication skills and begin to reach their goals.
🌻
I truly believe that my job is one of the most rewarding, and I view it 100% as a calling from the Lord. I get the unique and humbling opportunity to work alongside families as I make a difference in their day to day lives. My clients truly bless me just as much as I hope that I am able to bless them, and it is one of the biggest joys to be their speech therapist.
🌻
If you are interested in setting up a free discovery call, have any questions, or would like to schedule an evaluation, please reach out! I look forward to hearing from you soon.
