🌟 We’re excited to share that Kansas Birth Justice Society, the organization behind the Matrescence Center, has been recognized by the Wichita Business Journal as a *2025 Diversity & Inclusion Awards Honoree! 🌟

This recognition shines a light on what birth justice means for diversity and equity: creating spaces where Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and low-income families are centered, affirmed, and supported in their reproductive journeys.

At the Matrescence Center, a project of KBJS, we bring this vision to life through meditation, workshops, lactation support, and intentional space for families to connect and heal. Here, justice looks like joy, rest, and community care — because every family deserves not only survival, but the chance to thrive.

We celebrate this honor alongside the families, facilitators, volunteers, and staff who make the Matrescence Center a home for connection, healing, and belonging. 💛

We love this beautiful quote from the incredible and deeply missed bell hooks 🖤🙏

bell hooks was a lovely human, a scholar, author, and activist who wrote over 30 books that have been pivotal to society and to shifting the conversation to a more equitable one.

She wasn’t afraid to address race, gender, class, feminism, sexuality, self-care and all of the intersections in between. Her bravery, advocacy, and activism is something that must never be forgotten ✨

We loved this quote of hers from ‘All About Love’ because it’s in alignment with why this community was created. We are all in need of a caring community that truly sees us on our respective self-care journeys in order to heal 💜

This role is all about helping BIPOC pregnant folks and new parents feel good. You'll create a friendly space where they can relax, deal with stress, and feel better during pregnancy and early parenthood.
