Halloween Fun at The Chipper House!

Our Meadowlark Care Homes team got into the fall spirit this week by helping residents make delicious caramel apples to celebrate Halloween coming up! From dipping and decorating to plenty of sweet smiles, it was the perfect way to enjoy the season together.

A Special Send-Off for 2025’s Final Vet Café

Tomorrow we’ll proudly join the last Lima Charlie Vet Café of the year, wrapping up another wonderful season of honoring and connecting with our local veterans.

These gatherings have meant so much full of stories, smiles, and moments that remind us why community and camaraderie matter so deeply.

Let’s come together one last time this year to celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. From all of us at Meadowlark, thank you for your service and your spirit.

This past Saturday’s Sedgwick Country Emergency Preparedness Expo wouldn’t have been possible without the leadership of our very own Ann Houk.

Ann’s dedication to community safety, both through Meadowlark Adult Care Homes and her work with the Local Emergency Planning Committee, was recognized by KAKE News when she was honored as a Hometown Hero. We’re proud to share that story again today as a reminder of how one person’s vision can bring our whole community together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Expo. Events like this are about more than preparedness. They’re about neighbors looking out for one another, which is exactly what Meadowlark stands for.

This past weekend, Meadowlark Adult Care Homes was proud to be a sponsor of the Sedgwick Country Emergency Preparedness Expo at Century II.

The event brought families, first responders, and community partners together to learn more about staying safe and prepared. From hands-on training and safety demonstrations to valuable resources for every age, it was a day full of learning and connection.

At Meadowlark, our mission has always been to provide care in a safe, homelike setting. Supporting an event like this is one more way we can stand alongside our neighbors in building a stronger, safer community.

Happy Earth Day 🌎
It is important to recognize changes we each could make to help make a difference!

Go meatless once a week! By eating plant based one day a week you save 133 gallons of water each meal. This also can help reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and high cholesterol.

Limit your plastic waste! Support businesses that are eco conscious in their purchasing and products. Take your own refillable containers in place of plastic. Keep reusable bags in your vehicle for shopping! Not only does that reduce plastic but it also reduces the amount of trips in and out to get your groceries in the house.

Say no to fast fashion! The average consumer now buys 60% more clothing items than they did 15 years ago but keeps them for only half as long. In 2023 SHEIN became the highest emitting company in the fashion industry with the majority of clothing being made of plastic. 62% or more clothing items donated end up in landfills due to poor quality and over consumption.

Plant native flowers! Planting flowers native to your city/state can help with pollinator population and road flooding. Habitat loss, climate change, and pesticides are the leading causes of pollinator decline.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle ♻️ Check your local recycling facility (Pro Kansas Recycling for here in Wichita) to see what items they might accept that your trash company might not. Here in Wichita & Derby there are special bins for aluminum cans around the city to help support our Kansas Humane Society. You can find that information on their website. Did you know aluminum and glass are the only infinitely recyclable materials? Focus on purchasing items made of those and make sure to recycle.

It doesn’t take everyone doing it perfectly, but each of us doing it imperfectly can make all the difference.
