We are celebrating the life of Dr. Frederic Chang who recently passed away.

Dr. Chang joined Wichita Surgical Specialists (Group) in 1975 as a general surgeon and was instrumental in our surgical growth to trauma and teaching. He was a great mentor to all of our general surgeons.

Dr. Chang helped establish the campus of the KU School of Medicine-Wichita and served on the founding faculty, contributing to the development of the curriculum and mentoring generations of medical students and surgical residents. He retired from surgery in 1997 but remained deeply committed to teaching and advancing healthcare in Wichita.

Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and former staff and patients.

Physicians Dr. Nicholas Brown, Dr. Kyle Vincent, Dr. Samantha Beck and Dr. Sarah Corn and 2nd year resident Betsy Wall represented Wichita Surgical Specialists this week at the Kansas Medical Society Physician Advocacy Day in Topeka.

The event provided an opportunity to learn about the legislative process and allowed physicians to connect with local and state lawmakers to ensure they are making thoughtful, patient-centered decisions that affect both patients and providers.

We are honored to have Dr. Andrew DeClerk as one of our newest surgeons. Dr. DeClerk is a vascular surgeon with a focus on endovascular aortic and limb surgery, aortic aneurysms and dissections, and limb salvage. He also performs carotid surgery and stenting, dialysis access, and surgery for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and venous disease.

He brings a strong commitment to compassionate, high-quality care, and we’re grateful to have him serving our patients and community.
