One of the tragedies of severe, persistent mental illness is the way it can separate people from the ones they love. The holidays tend to be very difficult for adults with mental illness as they may find themselves alone with no presents under the tree. Help us show our clients they are not forgotten this holiday season by purchasing a gift for them.

MHA has created a wish list of specific need and wants. When you purchase an item from the list, it will be mailed directly to MHA, we will then wrap it and deliver it to them.

Thanks for your support and generosity!

You can access the list here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/5TOY02GCEFIR/

Today is World Kindness Day!

Kindness looks like…

✨ Bringing someone you love a snack.
✨ Smiling at someone you pass on the street.
✨ Calling or texting a friend just to see how they’re doing.
✨ Being kind to yourself, too.

Much love.

Much love.

This is what food rescue looks like in action. 💛✨

This week at Twelve Restaurant & Bar, their team did what they always do. They packed up every bit of their perfectly good brunch surplus and happily brought it out for our volunteer to deliver to the Mental Health America of South Central Kansas, one of our 19 nonprofit receiving agencies.

Our volunteer, Becky, said it best: “Every time I have done a rescue at Twelve, they have expressed their gratitude for being able to contribute to such a worthy cause.”
That gratitude goes both ways. We are so thankful for food donors who choose to put people first and make sure good food keeps feeding Wichita instead of going to waste.

Together, we rescue food. Together, we feed food insecure neighbors. Together, we make Wichita stronger. 🙌💛

Want to help spread holiday cheer AND meet the needs of some MHA clients?

Our Adopt-A-Bell program provides gifts for clients who would otherwise go without presents this holiday season.

We ask clients for wants and needs and we ask our staff and community to help purchase those items. We then wrap and deliver them and get to be part of their holiday celebrations.

To help make it easier we've compiled an Amazon wishlist. If you purchase items they will be delivered to us and we can get them to those who requested them.

Thank you for your generosity!

November is National Family Caregivers Month. We want to honor and support those who play this vital role in their family.

Nearly 1 in 4 (63 million) U.S. adults are family caregivers.

Being a caregiver can bring joy and purpose, but it can also lead to stress, exhaustion, and worry about mental health for both you and your loved one.

Please remember to take care of yourselves as well.

Resources for caregivers can be found here: https://mhanational.org/caregiving/
