Want your practice to be the top-listed Clinic?
My love affair with yoga started in 1997. Yes I have been at it awhile. I began practicing yoga to strengthen my back and build stamina for my impending career as a professional massage therapist. Like many others, what brought me to yoga is not what kept me coming back for more. Yes I strengthened my back and considering I still have a thriving massage therapy practice I would say it has served that purpose well. It was the more subtle, less tangible effects of the practice that really got my attention. I was living in Chicago at the time, going to school at The Chicago School of Massage Therapy and working full time as a flight attendant for United Airlines. As much I loved living in Chicago, city life and working with the public could be draining. My yoga practice became my refuge. The thing I did just for me. I realize now it was the breath work, mindful movement, conscious relaxation and meditation coming together that made yoga so satisfying.
Once I started my professional massage therapy practice in 1998 it became very clear to me that many of my clients would benefit from yoga. So... (see bio below) I started my professional relationship with yoga by getting formal training. Many trainings... (again see bio below). Personally and professionally the combination of these 2 worlds has served my clients and me well. I once considered myself a massage therapist that also taught yoga. I now consider myself a yoga teacher that is also a massage therapist. My teaching (studio classes, private sessions, on site classes, community outreach, workshops and teaching teachers) takes up the majority of my time now.
I love working in a variety of settings and with a variety of populations. I know from my own 20 plus years of experience the practices of yoga are transformative, sustaining and challenging. My heart felt mission is to share a bit of that acquired knowledge and passion with the world. I view my role as a guide and supporter but ultimately each individual must make the practices of yoga their own for real growth and transformation.
