Kathleen Shannon needs our help!!!! Her mother passed away unexpectedly and has created some unexpected challenges that Kathleen is responsible for with funeral cost, storage, and everything else that comes with an unexpected passing. If any of you know Kathleen she also is helping her finance recovery from a brain injury and is already swimming in debt with hospital bills. She has participated in our program and has played a pivotal role in our women's house and continued upkeep of the property. She has gone through more this year than many have in a lifetime and has stayed sober and positive through it all. I don't want to give to many details because that is her story to tell but if you could please find it in your heart to give even a small amount it would have a huge impact. We have an opportunity to help someone in need so please step up and make a difference.

When we finally took ownership of the women's house in April, the sight of the lawn was disheartening—it resembled nothing more than a vast patch of unruly weeds. It reminded me of what happens when you toss a seed into such an area. Devoid of the necessary nutrients, it struggles to grow and thrive. However, we weren't discouraged. We rolled up our sleeves, determined to transform the landscape. We toiled, tending to the soil, uprooting the weeds, and sowing the seed. And now, behold, our efforts have borne fruit—a lush carpet of grass, with only a few resilient weeds remaining, which are now much easier to identify and address.

Gazing upon the initial picture, it's understandable how one might feel overwhelmed, even defeated, before even starting the journey. Yet, let us consider how this mirrors our lives and the metaphorical weeds symbolizing our sins, while the seed represents our relationship with Christ. Just as we sought assistance and sought the Holy Spirit's guidance and forgiveness to cleanse our past wrongdoings, we must also permit Him to work in the depths of our hearts (like tilling the soil), stirring it up and preparing it for growth. Only then are we truly ready to flourish, with only occasional and isolated weeds popping up along the way.

Our journey is influenced by various elements. The company we keep, the nourishment we seek spiritually and emotionally, the condition of our hearts, and even the environments we immerse ourselves in—these all play crucial roles. Let us not underestimate our potential or hinder our progress; instead, let us provide ourselves with the optimal conditions to become the individuals we were destined to be. May God bless and guide us on this transformative path.

Update!!!! We closed on the houses and now in the process of a couple updates and fixes before we open our 2nd Womens House in El Dorado. It has been a difficult process and our faith has been tested. Nicole Webb and I continue to say we are all in and will do what God calls us to. The 2nd Chance Beginnings family as a whole has been amazing through this process. Our new design is in and will be picking them up Monday. Except our XXL they are on back order. Ill be reachout out to all who put in a pre-order and will post whats left shortly after. We have our new hoodie design, However we have to mark up to $40 due to a different brand of hoodie and more lettering. With this round we are proud to announce that Freedom Church of Augusta has partnered with 2nd Chance Beginnings. We will continue to reach the lost and provide a safe place of accountability and relationships to break away from the bo***ge of addiction. It's getting cold out and our houses are filling up, a lot of times cold weather is a motivator for getting clean. That may be the start but let this opportunity show them that they can have a better life free from addiction with relationships and accountability. Let them see that they are set apart and children of the most High God. God uses situations and circumstances to promote change and advance his kingdom. Thank you to everyone who believes in our mission and that everyone is worth the time and effort it takes to show love and compassion. For God so loved the world!!! Stay warm.

Good morning everyone, I am currently working on a design for a new round of hoodies that we will be selling to raise money for 2nd Chance Beginnings. We have had a pretty challenging financial year with a few $800 electrical bills, 2 floods and house maintenance issues on top of the extra expenses that go into opening a new home. However with that being said we have seen so many blessings as well. Parents getting more time with their children, people staying sober and pursuing a better way of living. People being saved and baptized. Healthy and lifelong relationships being formed. If you or someone you know is looking for a change and a 2nd Chance at life send them our way. 2nd Chance Beginnings will be hosting a banquet in late fall or early winter, we are working on an exact date and should have that by the end of the week. It will be "A night of Freedom & 2nd Chances" We are looking for a few individuals with experience to join our planning committee.
