I was so reluctant at first to share my story. But, why not? It’s just another step in life.

Wellness Wednesday ✨Resident Spotlight✨

Janis lives in Westerly, our Independent Living apartments here at Wichita Presbyterian Manor. Recently, she noticed a significant decline in her lower-body strength along with increased pain and discomfort in her legs. Because of her past health challenges and neurological damage, traditional land-based therapy became more difficult for her.

Thankfully, we have Amy — one of our talented PTAs who is certified in Aquatic Therapy. This was the perfect fit for Janis, who had always enjoyed attending our Aqua classes before her decline.

Amy has been working closely with Janis to strengthen her lower body, rebuild confidence, and improve her ability to safely manage the pool steps. And the progress has been incredible! One of the biggest victories so far is that Janis can now use a pool noodle to complete her leg exercises in the water — something she wasn’t able to do before beginning aquatic therapy.

We are so proud of Janis’ hard work and thrilled to see her reclaim strength, balance, and joy in the pool again!

One resident donor recently said, “I give because I see the need, and I’m very thankful I am able to do that. I think everybody deserves to have dignity in later life – so I give.”

🎄 Aegis Therapies Annual December Dash at WPM! 🎄

Dashing through the halls of WPM we go — lifting weights and sipping sweets, what a glorious day! Hey!

Our Independent and Assisted Living residents showed up in festive, fun Christmas gear, making the halls sparkle with holiday cheer during this year’s December Dash Festivities! They completed a half-mile walk mixed with energizing upper and lower body exercises led by our Aegis Therapies team.
After all that hard work, everyone enjoyed some well-deserved treats — cookies and hot chocolate with ALL the toppings! ☕🍪
We love seeing our community stay active, connected, and full of joy this holiday season. ❤️Here’s to another successful December Dash!
